Got my scangauge!! Couple questions.

It says online you can estimate horsepower and boost. I dont have an option for it on my scan guage. I know you can enter codes or whatever but does anyone know how too? Any other tips with the scan gauge would be great! Thanks!

im pretty sure... dont remember exactly because i did this over the summer and havent touched the setting since... buttt i think if you read through and follow what it says those are codes thats you input to set up the gauge you want... if that makes sense... like it will say tdx and you enter that code then itll go txf and you enter that code... but again i could be wrong i havent done it in a while...

It is a new feature. I had to send mine in with $25 for them to update the unit. If you don't have a performance tab, so do you. Info on their site.

So I went in and tried to type in those codes. First time I accessed the menu it asked me to type in the txd and all the other codes. And now it wont. After typing in the code and then what memory. It said that there was nothing to save. Am i missing something?

From my reading on other forums, the maker has been very good about talking with customers and resolving problems. You might try contacting them.

RI is basically at sea level? We're basically in the sea!!

Nice to hear from another RI Mini driver. Which beach? And more importantly, what are you driving?

To stay on topic, my scangauge is 4 or 5 years old and does not have a performance tab. Maybe I'll check into updating it. MAP is not one of my four primary display values, so I am not sure what it reads. If I think of it I will change it to display it tomorrow and see what I have at idle and also at WOT.

Happy motoring and watch those potholes!!

Not to worry. That is the correct reading. The Scan Gage MAP reads "manifold absolute pressure". That means that when it sees sea level pressure it will read 14.5 psia. Anything less than that is a vacuum. When the car is at idle the engine pulls a vacuum on the manifold and 4.5 psia is a really good pressure (or in this case "vacuum") at idle. When you lift off the throttle going down hill you will probably read about 3.x psia.

For a MCS the Scan Gage MAP will also show the boost pressure. On a non-tuned S at WOT it will read ~25 psia and ~27.5 psia in the over boost mode. This corresponds to 10 and 12.5 psi boost pressures.

07 'S' Laser blue and black, out of Wickford. We get out to Richmond once in a while in the summer when we go hiking - a lot of nice driving roads in that part of the state.....

Send it in, the boost gauge is included in the upgrade for $25. Took me about a week and the $4.00 or so to send it in.

Setting the gauge like you are trying to do should give you a reading of 0 when the engine is off. Basically you are zeroing it out. That way all your pressures are accurate representations of boost.

You can check the version of your Scangauge and if it is earlier than 4.06 and you purchased the Scangauge later than January of 2011 the update is free. I purchased my ScanGauge just a couple of weeks ago and it has version 3.17. The only cost for the update is what you pay to send it in.
