Hey i was curious if anyone had ever swapped a R56 motor into a R53?? If you have i would like to know what all you had to do in order to get the motor in there and running good.

As an admitted R53 owner, I'm left scratching my head on this question...

Supercharger whine rules!!!
(stepping off soap box)

I have been thinking about doing this.
I have considered running the N14 with an N12 head, to convert back to an MPI setup from DI, and running the N12 ECU with AEM fueling management (to comp for the turbo). Since it is a high compression engine (n12) on a low compression bottom (N14), there would be nice aggressive spark advance.
Advantages would be weight, power, efficiency.
Disadvantages would be trying to get a NYS inspection, Cost, and Cost. Anything is possible, but would insue hundreds of hours to make turn key, and thousands of dollars. At the end I would have a stock-ish N14 in my car for around the price of an R58.
I would consider this more if I didnt already have two project cars . I would love to see this swap done.

apropos nearly nothing, i'd be into a VW TDI engine in my R50 - that would be cool but it would never pass Ca inspection, would cost 3 cars worth+ no doubt, but fun to muse about..

Since the r56 is still in production and easy to find used, just buy one of those if that's what you want.
