Second thoughts about cloth seats

It's taken my dealer longer than I would have liked to get my CM ordered and scheduled for production. The silver lining, I guess, is that I have time to change my mind about some options.

After reading the thread about how hot leatherette and leather can get, and after 60+ days of 100-degree weather here this summer, I ordered the Carbon Black Cosmos cloth seats. The dealer had only a tiny sample, and the only halfway decent picture I can find is on the configurator. Now I'm worried that they will look cheap and they won't wear well. (I can just see my dogs snagging the fabric with their nails.)

So did any of you get the cloth seats, and if you did, are you happy with them? Any pics would be really helpful.

No cloth. I got the gravity leather in beige. Was HOT all summer here and I did OK. You are right not to get leatherette. I had cloth in my R56 and it stood up very well. We have a Golden.

I love my cloth seats, but I've only had my car for a month and don't plan on having any dogs on board. I had leather in my R53 and as long as you tint your windows and keep a sun shade up, they don't get too hot. The newer leatherette doesn't breathe nearly as well as it did in the earlier cars. I had it in my first MINI R50 and it was awesome. My wife has the leatherette in her Clubman, and I'm not a fan.

We considered the leather and leather-plus-cloth for our ALL4 (both have lumbar support) and decided to go with the leatherette (no lumbar support adjustment). We went through the summer here (it does get hot, but not like this year in TX) and the leatherette wasn't a problem. We did miss the lumbar support and may do something about that - now at 7500 miles.

We have the cloth,(only had the car for two weeks) we love it. I have the cloth in my 2010 JCW with 13,000 miles. It still looks great,no dogs in the car ever.
You can look at my Gallery for photos. You can spend the money on something
more fun.

Cloth seats

Personally I would rather have cloth and I love the red and black material in the Countryman. I would love to have those seats in my CLUBMAN. If I could just get the material I would be tempted to have my CLUBMAN seats recovered in the same material.

Thanks!

Thank you all so much--you've made me feel much better about my decision. Now if they will just start making my car so I can quit vacillating about full rail/split rail/full rail/split rail . . . .

I have the red color line = cloth and leather combo and love them. Stays cool in the hot Texas sun and the cloth looks like it will hold up very well.

I *love* the cloth seats. I also had cloth in my 2003 MCS, which had over 130k miles on it - there was no wear on the seats at all that I could see.

I like how the cloth looks, I like how it feels, basically cloth seats are awesome.

I vote for the full rail! I ordered my CM with the bench seat (more practical for my needs), but from what I here you get WAY more utility out of the rail with the full rail than with the split. Especially if you get the armrest!

I have bench seats in back and the full rail. I took off the arm rest and use the eyeglass case at the e-brake for stuff and have the two cup holders and a garbage bag clip just rear of the front seats. I can reach the bag easily between the seats and also use the cup holder with ease as well.

I went with the full rail on the "reachable cupholder" theory after reading the rail debates in past threads. It's extremely comforting to hear you all say that you can use the cupholder right behind the front seats. The cupholder situation is more important to me than it probably should be. I got Connected--will I be able to take that armrest out?

In any event, the dealer now tells me that I am in production status 112 and that no changes are possible now. I hope he wasn't just telling me that to keep me from considering switching to yellow. With any luck, they'll start making my car next week!
