I have called the British Magazine and is told it can be bought in the US.
The yearly subscription is $65.00 and I need to look at an issue before I commit myself.
Anyone have any idea where a magazine can bebought in Souther Florida?
Thanks.

You cannot purhase the magazine from a retailer in the States. The magazine is at http://www.gomini.co.uk/. You can purchase a single issue or a subscription from http://www.carmags.co.uk/index2.html It is 35 pounds or about $65 a year for a subscription.

The "Editor's Bit" column in the second issue states, "Good news for all Mini owners in America is that from this issue of GoMini we will be widely available in bookshops and newsagents Stateside." So....what does that mean exactly??? Not sure, but (...pure speculation here) certainly B&N have got to be in the mix somewhere.

The mag is very slick and typically well written. (...Brits) Pics are awesome and interviews have been unique...Jeremy Clarkson in issue one and Murray Walker in issue two. Much different presentation of info than what you'd find on the web...they compliment each other and there's a place for both IMO.

I subscribed somehow for three issues...its been great fun getting #1 and #2! Once it finally get to US stores it'll be so much easier to decide if its worth the $$$ issue by issue.

When I was in Manchester, UK on my business trip last week, I found this new Mini magazine "gomini" in the book store!
Current issue comes with free but small desk top calendar(it's not bad) and every article is interesting for all MiniMania.
I sent subscription through internet today...

Happy motoring!

$65 is a bit pricey for 6 issues, which is almost $11/issue!

D,
Yes, I think it is true.
Didn't you send in a picture of your MCS to them?
For that, they should send you a free copy.
Or maybe for that, they think you will buy a copy and a few extra to show your "yank" friends.

Peace.

Supposedly from now on they'll be available in the states at "finer" bookstores.

Explored the MINI mag website. I don't think I'll be buying the thing. A British magazine would obviously pay more attention to British MINIs, British owners and their interests. We have different interests here in America. As usual, the modified/hot-rodded machines get the most coverage. As usual, the loud jocks get the most attention. Those of us with no mods [nor any need for mods] are shunted off to the side. I'll use the subscription money for gas.

I just picked up a copy at Tower Records in Tustin California - a bit pricey at $9.99 but it is a good quality magazine. They also stock Mini World Magazine by the same publisher. Barnes & Noble also stocks Mini World so they may stock GoMini. I will check today and report back.

I agree with Michael, there is a lot of emphasis on mods (...and largely NOT from U.S. vendors) in GoMINI, but the prulishers are really making an effort to include the US scene. What I like is the inclusion of MINI Ones and Ds, the great interviews on MINIs in general, and the road trip type of articles. I do like the international flavor of the mag, too. It is is very slick and well worth a look...as well as the $$$s. That said, there probably is a place for a US mag. My present opinion: get GoMINI when I feel like it at the newsstand (great pics, super interviews, international) and supplement that with NAM and other web sites (local club scenes, US vendors, technical ???S and tons of OT!). Best of both worlds, IMO.

I went to Borders in my area and they did not have Go-Mini.

Yes, the magazine is geared more for europe but it is nice having a MINI only mag for a change.
Sometimes the classic Mini magazines have features on the new MINI.

For us, the dream magazine would be "MINI in America" which features mini tuners, US MINIs modded to the hilt, and specials on what US MINI clubs are up to. Actually there is enough going on for this to happen.

An idea would be for MINIUSA to allow a national MINI group to start up as the equivalent to BMW CCA. Then there could be a national MINI magazine every two months featuring the above things similar to the magazine the "Roundel".

D,
Your little Go-Mini blurb was great and your logo is the best.
We could form the D-mini-ero Racing club with that logo.

Issue #3 has an interview with stunt driver Russ Swift and a European road trip on the 1964 Monte Carlo route. Also, NAM is mentioned in the recommended web sites. Articles on several US tuners and other stuff, too.

It also has a letter from me and a close up of my MCS front end showing
my "GOMINI" license plate  I've had some good email communication going with the editor and he is generously donating a one year over-seas subscription as a door prize for MINIs On Top ( http://www.minisontop.com )
