Close windows with remote

In my '06 MCS I could close all the windows and the sun roof by holding down the close button on the key fob. I tried it on the Countryman but it doesn't work. Is this a setting someplace that can be changed to allow it?

The only way to close them from outside the car is to insert the key into the handle and turn clockwise.

As for your 2006, did you program it to do that? I didn't think that remote close was possible from the factory in the US. From what I've read, it was disabled for the US market. Here's a thread about enabling it on 2nd Gen MINIs that might work for the R60.

Making the change via the ECU (as mentioned by chrunck) is the only way to get the option to work. I've had it set on my R60 for a while now, and frankly am surprised it's not a normal setting.

You are correct the remote close by pressing button was not available....you had to use the key inserted into the lock....

So that programming works for a us r60? That's the greatest news ever!

There is another thread over there that talks about the geographical locations of guys like me who will do it for you. I am in New Orleans, but I am sure there are some guys who do MINI coding in your area.

So, speaking of Mini coding, is there any code that will unlock the doors when the car is put into Park?

And so now I'm on a mad hunt for cables, software and knowledge. I was looking at the other post in the electrical 2nd gen forum and the cable that was linked on ebay is no longer listed. I've not finished the thread yet but is there a current parts list of what's needed to make these changes?

Search ebay for "D-CAN INPA" and you'll see a lot of options there.

Pretty sure it's just a liability issue.

Also, I was showing this feature to my father, but the windows were not closing when we turned the key in the lock. Any idea why that would be? He has a 2012 Countryman.

I'm sure it's a 'safety' feature, most likely added because someone had their arm out a window when a button was hit... Since we have 4 doors, I'm sure Mini was thinking about children, as well.

That was my guess when I noted that you could only roll them down but not up.

do we need just the cable or the cable and the cd or the cable/cd/20pin-16pin adapter? will any of the bmw D-CAN INPA cables work or is one recommended over others? the auction says these are for bmw 1998-2008.

You need the cable and the software provided here. The CD they give you is the driver for the cable.

So long as you buy one of the silver ones (not the blue), you should be fine. They're called K+D-CAN due to the magistrals, etc. The important thing here is the D-CAN. The cables on eBay are around $60. I bought this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/new-BMW-INPA...ht_1358wt_1396

If you have the keyless system... When you push the button on the handle to lock, hold it.. It will close everything just like inserting the key into the lock.. It's the same in my e92 BMW.
