Couple of Nav Questions

I have nav on my 2011 Cooper. Not the greatest system in the world, but it does the job and I've got most of it figured out. Here are my questions, though:

First, is there a detailed instruction manual somewhere. The nav section in the MINI owner's manual is fine for an overview, but seems short on details.

Second, can one of you explain the A to Z search on the "Point's of Interest" screen. I'm not getting it.

Third, on a recent trip I saw a small black triangle to the left of the bars that show the phone signal. I think it's connected to the fact that I was out in the boonies. (The triangle doesn't show up when I'm in town). Any of you know what that triangle is telling me?

Wow, sounds like they might have finally fixed this in the Nav system. In all previous versions of Nav on the MINI (for the past 10 years), you couldn't search for a place name or business directly. You had to hunt through different categories looking for which one it might be cataloged under (often it would be in a category you might not expect). There have been complaints for years and requests for the ability to search directly. So can you now enter directly, say, "Safeway" ? Previously you had to drill down through the categories.

A triangle is commonly used on cellphones to indicate roaming mode. That means you are outside the coverage of your own cellular carrier, and if you make a phone call it will be handled by an affiliate carrier in that area. Depending on your cellphone plan, a roaming call might be billed at a higher rate then a regular call.
