When I had mine installed, the SA had mentioned that sometimes it can be a problem. The whole process took 3 hours for me. Sorry for your pain.

I just had the JCW software upgrade done on my 2011 MCS yesterday. The code provided with the kit did not work; the code provided in the sealed envelope that came with the kit was apparently to activate the navigation system which I don't have. I had driven over 4 hours to get to the dealer (Flow MINI in Winston-Salem,NC). No matter what they did, it would not load. I think they called everybody in BMW/Mini that had anything to do with it. In the mean time they emptied the existing software, so I couldn't even drive home (another 4 hour,220 mile drive). The guys at the dealership worked really hard to get the right code, but apparently someone at BMW hit the wrong keystroke, and so the "permission" to download was not forthcoming. Six hours later, just about the time that Flow Mini was going to give me a loaner car to get home, (and they would deliver my car to me when it was fixed), there came a break through. Somewhere, somehow, someone at BMW figured out how to over write the wrong code. At 4:20 PM (after six hours)they started the download,----and it took. By 5:10PM we were on our way home. For all their efforts, 2-3 techs works at this for six hours, they charged me for one hour labor. However, the day was expensive; while waiting, my Wife got a shuttle ride from Flow to the Shopping Mall and came back with an expensive watch. If I could have a JCW kit, she could have a new watch. It was hard to argue the point.
I can't say enough good things about the way Flow Mini of Winston-Salem took care of us.

Hmmm....
My only experience driving a MINI was having the dealer loaner "S" for a week while they fixed the problem with my install. I got pretty used to the feel of the stock "S". Now, keep in mind that I am still in the break in period with mine, so I haven't even pushed it hard yet. But the difference is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The low end grunt with the kit is completely different, and the exhaust sounds like a whole new monster. It's simply like a whole new car. I'm sorry to hear that you feel there is "not much difference", but my experience is the 100% opposite, in fact it exceeds my expectations.

Flow had the same issue with my JCW Stage 1. Code did not work and they got it working within a day. Flow has great service!!

I love my Stage 1, quite a bit more power in the 2500+ rpm range.

So what is your oponion on the sound from the exhaust.. Too Loud, just right . or too soft. I think this is all subjective, but I have a clubbie as well and an automatic and am concerned that the sound may be too lond and the drone may be noticeble. I would appreciate your thoughts
thanks,
Spencer
