Huge Blunder - Doh!!!!!! Help!!!

So I get the touted Remus exhaust for my 2011 Clubman S get it installed, and when I get home, my wife hears the new growl and tells me to get rid of it!!!!

So I'm stuck. I saved the stock S exhaust - can it be re-installed without a problem?? Are there any things I need to be aware of??

Thanks for your help- any one interested in a 1 day old Remus exhaust for a 2010 Clubman S ???!!!!

That's a drag. Do the dishes or something, maybe she'll let it slide.

It's one thing at a time, my girlfriend was mad as hell when I first ordered the Mini, I currently drive a big loud lifted Xterra and after coming around to the car (kinda) she said... it's not gonna be loud too is it? My response was not yet.

You should have just told her you bought some fancy new chrome tips. She would have NEVER known the sound was any different. You pointed it out and now she doesn't like it.

Do you like it? How does it sound to you?

Ok...well, let's assume you don't want to get divorce over a car mod.

I think it is important that you communicate with her on what it is that she doesn't like about it. Then try to calm her thoughts.

Or maybe you screwed up on something else recently? And she's using this Mini mod to blow off her steam? You should look at yourself in the mirror and figure that out first.

Or maybe you've been spending more time with your Mini than her?

Obviously, I don't know your situation....but I would venture to guess that you F***ED up something recently. Here's some friendly reminders:
  1. Wedding anniversary?
  2. Her birthday?
  3. Her mother's birthday?
  4. Day when you guys hooked up?
Any memories coming back?

Good luck....

Whenever my girl starts rolling her eyes listening to me talk about the MINI, I remind her how glad she is I don't ride sport bikes anymore.

"Yes, this hobby is more expensive, but you probably won't have to identify my body!"

I had a similar situation. Wife said I had to get rid of a couple buddies I hung out with.

You will miss them, but in the long run it is for the best.

She really was a good cook, I wonder what she is up to these days.

Tell her your trying to sell the exhaust and that you dont want to uninstall it before you have a buyer. After a while she may get used to it.

Just curious, when you say she heard the new growl, did she hear it from the cabin, driving, or did you redline it in the garage? It might not seem so loud in normal driving.

I recently put the NM Engineering exhaust on my R56. While it doesn't bother me much I can see it getting to me along with any passengers if I take it on a long road trip. I'm considering putting in some sort of sound deadening material inder the cabin area. I saw someone mention Raam Mat so I'm going to look into that. My hope is that it will reduce the in cabin noise but that I can open the windows or sunroof if I want to hear the pop and burble of the new exhaust.

I am looking into a new exhaust, but I have a long (2,500KM) road trip ahead of me in three weeks. I will probably wait till I get back. Leaning towards the Megan cat-back.

LOL!

My wife has her own Mini and she loves to mod it as much as I do. She's focusing on the aesthetics while I'm more drivetrain. So the answer apparently is; get her a Mini so she can get bitten by the bug.
