Who did you order from and was it a good deal?

Sounds good but I have to ask...

from your signature you have a MCCSa JCW stage 1, correct? My understanding is the JCW stage 1 includes the JCW tuning kit which includes the JCW kit exhaust. I have the JCW kit exhaust on my MINI and it is indistinguishable from the Remus to my ears and I have played this clip through my home theater speakers. If you did have the JCW kit exhaust, why did you replace with the numerous other exhausts, including this Remus. Unless you got these exhausts for free, it seems like a waste to me to... especially, since we are in all reality speaking in terms of sound rather than performance inprovements.

Good questions!

Here is the timeline of why I did what I did.

Stock Cooper Clubman S
  • Purchased the Magnaflow last year, got a good deal on it, hated the drone and didn't like the way the tips looked.
  • Sold to a friend/NAM member
  • Purchased Alta immediately after, hated it even more, WAY to much drone.
  • Sold on NAM
  • Went back to stock Cooper Clubman S pipes
  • Recently purchased Remus after many agonizing/researching months.
  • LOVE IT!
  • above pics and clips are PRE JCW S1 install

Cooper S Clubman JCW Stage 1
  • Decided to go JCW Stage 1 (2 weeks ago)
  • Listened to 2 Clubmans with JCW S1 and the sound IS different as we had them side by side. (I preferred the Remus and so did 1 of the others)
  • Sold the JCW Stage 1 exhaust to a friend/NAM member who was itching to buy it.

How is the Remus Different?
  • Both are Axle backs
  • Remus has a lower deeper sound
  • More mellow
  • NO Drone
  • I still have stock Resonator
  • Noticable higher quality build than JCW
  • free flow design = a little more power
  • I prefer the tips, personal preference

What may be a waste to some was a process of getting what I wanted with some trade offs. The only way to get noticeable performance is to do a turbo back exhaust in which I have no desire to do.

I wanted a better sound than JCW Stage 1 with the same or maybe a little better performance. I got just what I was searching for and I couldn't be happier, it just took time to get there and yes, maybe a little extra cash. Point is I'm happy with what I have and wanted to post a good review here on NAM because of the great service I got from Remususa and how pleased I am with the product.

Hope that answers your questions.

Great explanation of why you did what you did and description of the differences between the exhausts. If I had a Clubman, this thread alone would give me all the information I would need to make a decision.

MC version is sold out according to Duffy, but the link he sent me was for a Gen 1. Not quite sure if a Gen 2 is available or not, but waiting for some clarity from him now.

Those were pretty much my feelings when I first got my Remus regarding the exhaust and Duffy at RemusUSA. I even posted a review of the R56 exhaust back in August similar to how you did with my own pictures and video in order to get the word out, but it didn't garner nearly as much interest as yours . Maybe you just have the magic touch? At any rate, I'm glad this exhaust is finally getting some attention .

Hey guys, just got off the phone w/ the guys at Remus usa. Duffy says the R57 Cabrio is in stock, but not the R56. But he says the Cabrio system is only slightly different than the 56 version, and works well. Said one of us here on NAM proved that point. R56 is on their next container in limited qty. Then again on next container around July / Aug.

So, it sounds like the way to go with a Clubman is a downpipe and something like this axle back exhaust from Remus leaving the stock exhaust pipe in the middle. I was looking at just going with a Borla catback, but it seems like there aren't many people out there using it. I was looking at a turboback exhaust, but have read entirely too many negative comments on the drone it creates at highway speeds. I drive on the Autobahn in Germany at speeds at or around 100mph and that would be just too irritating for long periods of time. What are your thoughts?

Anyone need a 1 day old R55 Remus exhaust!!??

So I call Duffy and get the exhaust, get it installed, and when I get home, my wife hears the new growl and tells me to get rid of it!!!!

So I'm stuck. I saved the stock S exhaust - can it be re-installed without a problem?? Are there any things I need to be aware of??

Thanks for your help!!

Oh no! Are you sure you can't convince her to live with it for about a week or so? She might decide she can live with it . If not, speaking from experience reattaching the S exhaust is a snap. Just make sure your installer checks and double checks his welds and you'll be fine.

Oh, that stinks!

Question is, how do YOU like it? Is it her Clubman or does she drive it a lot?

My wife listened to mine and said "I don't hear the difference.". But that's just her saying, I'm obsessed!

I'm really surprised to hear that because this exhaust has such a quiet hum to it until you really hammer down on it.

To answer your question, any shop can re weld your old cans right back on. Not a problem at all.

If I had not just ordered a set I would buy them. Maybe just tell her you swapped it out and go easy on the throttle for a while. NO WOT

Instead of spending the $200 it'd cost you to reattach the stock exhaust, just tell her to think of all the romantic candlelight dinners that would pay for! Or maybe that swanky new hand bag she's been eying? I'm sure she could always use a new pair of shoes...

$200??????? You Need to find another shop. Go to the LITTLE guy in town and stay away from the meineke and such. The little guys will do a better job for a lot less $$$$$.

My guy charged me 30 bucks!

You never did answer the question...do YOU like the new pipes?

I liked them

and the stock one is back on.

Remus impressions

Nice, low, subtle , just slightly louder than stock at low revs. When you open up the throttle has a nice sound, not too loud. It also "seemed" I was getting a little better mid range acceleration.

Thanks all

I love the sound of this exhaust. I'm going to send Remus and email to see if they have any idea if this would work on my husband's Countryman. Sounds like a perfect Father's Day present!!!

Well, according to their international website Remus does make a Countryman exhaust. Check it out here. I'm not sure if RemusUSA would have it in stock, but they could certainly order it for you. This is the SKU if that helps at all: 754011 1598C. I don't think it'd be here in time for fathers day though if that were the case. The tips on that system look a bit different too. This is what they look like. Personally I like the look. Good luck .

I've been asked if the sound has changed on my Remus Exhaust. At this point, I don't think so, it just sounds great!

I will say, I back my car in my garage because it's easier to get in and out and get my daughter out of her seat as well. But...when you first fire it up, it's SO low and deep, I sometimes just stand behind it just to hear the sweet sound. Then after it idles for a bit...it smooths out and doesn't do it. It's kind of cool!

Sorry, trying to learn this whole car thing. Computer programmer here just now getting into cars.

What's the difference between Cat Back / Axle Back / Exhaust? Will I lose any power just swapping out the exhaust without modifying anything else initially?

Thanks for any clarification.
