question for the access port!

this would be my very first step of modifying my car!
please understand, If im asking a noobish question :(
I'm driving 2007 mcs r56 and looking foward to get an Access port system.

I've done some reading about the Access port, and noticed there are 3stores that i could possibly order it from.. (rmw, alta, and cobb).

do they come with different pre-sets of map depends on where it ordered from???

if so, which one would you recommend for a stock 2007 mini cooper s (r56)

The AP comes loaded with every map offered. When you plug it into your car, it identifies your ECM and downloads the maps. Then you choose the map you would like to run.
If this is your first mod, it's a good one, you'll probably use Stage 1 stock.
Good bang for the buck. Have fun, it grows with you .

+1 on all this

Makes a real difference on my 2010 MC S, with only modest other mods.

If your car is stock, you will have to run a stage 1 map. The maps will load on the AccessPORT by doing an update using the AccessPORT Manager.

Wherever you order it from, you have access to all of the maps, thanks!

This I did not know..

I figured you'd get the maps made by whoever you bought it from.

Access Port is made by Cobb. Maps are being made by Alta, RMW, and in development with Mynes.

That ALTA maps have always been free! The updating function loading maps on the AccessPORT have been going on since October or so.

We have always had these free no matter where you got them from. Customers are starting to purchase them from vendors like outmotoring, which don't supply any maps. All they need to do is an update, and they have access to all of our maps!

I just want to know if the Access Port is Mac compatible. I don't own a PC and want to be sure I am able to upload new maps and to review logs, etc.

Thanks,

Have there been any map updates in recent times? I regularly plug my accessport into my computer and run the update software but the most recent files for both maps and the software is quite old at this point...

There really haven't been any updates to the maps in a while now, since they haven't needed any updates. If you are having any specific issues though, let me know.

This thread is great but saddening to us 2011 MCS guys. This is the only mod I can see spending the money for, its definitely worth it.
