Burble?

I know I read somewhere that the S all4 was suppose to burble or growl in sport mode or something. I have tried everything to get mine to burble to no avail. Do u have to have manual tranny? Any ideas...

I hate myself when I do this, but I just can't help myself when it's just so darn obvious - - - have you tried craming it in the boot?

Sorry.

I have a stock 2011 MCS Automatic, and let me tell you it DOES "pop and burble" when I drive hard with the SPORT button pressed. It started doing it around 1200 miles in. Not sure if the CM doesn't do it or you just need to rack up miles.

Cheers!

That is not a Burble. That is a Yelp!

Hit the paddle shifters to downshift when coming off a freeway offramp. You should hear it. If you aren't driving aggressively, you won't likely hear it.

When I took a CM out for a test drive I was able to get it to burble by using the paddle shifters as TunaBall mentions.

Hmmm...I haven't been able to get my wife's Auto ClubbieS to do it. I guess I'll just have to take it out without her in it and push it harder!

Mine's manual, and all i have to do is think pop and burble when it's in Sport mode and it there.

Sorry for the wrong post mattmed03.

Will try again.

I have 1900 miles and have tried downshifting while driving agressively. I hear nothing. Maybe my Lady Gaga and Black eyed peas are too loud?

TRY THIS, it works on both manual and autos.
With the car parked, your door open and the SPORT button OFF, blip the throttle....up to 2,000rpm or so while listening to the exhaust. You just hear a normal un-burbled exhaust.
Now activate the SPORT button and once again blip the throttle...now you will hear the burble.

Is a "Burble" the same as a "Turbo Fart" ?

The noise made when you "cram it in the boot" sounds like a pig squealing, so I've been told.

that worked...

i did the revving while in park and heard the burble when the window was down only. i have an auto. It is certainly not very loud and now i know why can't hear it with the radio on. Maybe it will be louder with a new exhaust.

Cool. I do think it is considerably less pronounced than in my supercharged 03. It actually seems a little silly that you only get it with the sport button pressed. It feels a little contrived like they decided it wasn't a MINI without the "Pop & Burble" so they figured out the combination to add it back in with the push of a button. Contrived or not, I do like it! ;-)

It's the turbo blowing off reverse pressure and it's not the best thing for the turbo.

Then again, I've been accused of talking non-sense and being "All Hat and No Cattle" so what do I know.

If you want to play around and blow your turbo's, have at it. You won't hear me saying; "I told you so."
