Light Coffee or Surf Blue??

I am looking at ordering a Countryman S in the next couple weeks. Really undecided about color. Was at Scottsdale Mini this past weekend and looked at Red, Light Coffee, and Surf Blue. I think I have it down between Light Coffee or Surf Blue. Will go with a white top and mirrors. Really wish I could make up my mind. Trading in a 2008 Dodge Charger RT Hemi.

Wow, 2 very different choices. If you like being unique, the Light Coffee is pretty rare. The Surf Blue really does remind me of the beach, so it's more casual I think.
Most MINI people do get into some mods and graphics along the way, so think about what you might like on yours, maybe that will help decide your color.
I knew on my second MCS I wanted to do silver graphics in some way so made my final color choice based on what I thought would look good with silver. My first was all black and white graphics.

Good luck,
Annette

You're right. Brad rulz.

We ordered Royal Gray, but at the 11th hour we called and had the order switched to Smurf Blue. The Light Coffee would be interesting as I have only seen pictures of one other one on here. Light Coffee would definitely be the rarer of the two. What colour of interior would you be getting?

Speaking for the Pure Red contingent, I think we've been insulted.

That said, you need to take more than one look. CM colors are not stable. LC is a good color - a bit on the reserved side. SB has it's good points, too. Both are CM "dull" - not a bad thing, but just the way CM paint is. Very few of the colors "jump". So, make a few more trips and do a slow walk around. One of them will eventually say "Take me home."

Check out my sig. If I had wanted a white roof, however, I would have ordered the Surf Blue. IMO, the Lt. Coffee looks best with a black roof.

I planned on Light Coffee with a black roof from the get go, then a Surf Blue showed up at the dealer. I almost changed to the Surf Blue. It is just gorgeous in person. I ultimately went with my first love. I'm also a birder, and thought it would be less obtrusive out there in the field. I had a decorator tell me too look in your closet to decide which direction you should go when you're feeling indecisive about a color theme. I have no idea if that is something you should do, or if it even makes sense, but I know my closet is almost entirely brown and other earthy tones.

Now, if I ever actually get the dang thing I can post some pictures.

Damn, it's been so long since I've been in my closet . . . near as I recall there was a pink taffeta off the shoulder thing, a lavender poodle skirt, and a pair of black leather chaps and a vest. Somehow that all points to Pure Red?

That's a tough choice, I love blue myself but I ended up ordering a LC Countryman, with white roof as you are speccing... It's good that you are looking at them in person though as they are both colors where images have trouble really conveying the exact right color.

Pick a color and love it, is what I say. I don't think there are any bad colors, just lack of commitment! :-)

Too funny.

I knew I'd catch some flack for that, but I wanted to pass it on anyway. Your closet definitely points to pure red!

I am thinking silver wheels. Call me old school, but I am not sold on the anthracite wheels yet. My wife liked the anthracite wheels. One nice thing about them is I am sure they wouldn't show the brake dust.

I am just going with the standard dark interior. The Light Coffee I seen had the light interior with a black top and mirrors. Not sure how the Coffee would look with the dark interior. I am not wanting to lay out the cash for the upgrade seats. Would rather spend it on the Premium Package.

Taking the advice on looking in your closest . . . I have mostly grey or blue shirts along with blue jeans and some khaki pants.

So you can't go wrong with either color! I think the silver wheels looks best with the white top.

Upgrade seats... you will be happy you did. If you are tall and sit up straight, you will realize the wonders of lumbar adjustment, however small it may be.

A nice sunroof and sound system do not seem all that great when you are uncomfortable.

Agree on seat upgrade. Had I known, I would have done it. Now I'm seriously suffering.

I had a 2011 MCS loaner car with only 2000 miles on it last week while my car had an oil change, etc done, and it had the standard seats with no lumbar support and it was just fine. I think if you go on a driving trip, say a 4 or 5 hour drive your back may feel it, and if you already have a low back problem, but otherwise I do not think it is worth the upgrade. Buy a 15.00 lumbar support cushion and throw it in the car.

And besides, why doesn't mini just include the lumbar support with the standard seats?! It cannot cost them that much, and for what mini's sell for, c'mon.

I'll assume that you have not used the configuator on either a MINI or a BMW? BMW & Co. dont give away nothing. I'm suprised that the smell of new leather isn't part of a sport upgrade ozone enhancement package.

Sealy, you know what they say about assumming. Not sure what you are implying, but obviously I have, see my sig. Ordered both mini's, including my 2007 MCS, and currently own a 2011 BMW X5 50i, of which I ordered.

Satellite radio is now included, it sure wasn't on my 2009, dealer wanted 1200.00 to install it!

My current Dodge Charger doesn't have lumbar (don't think) and I don't miss it. I have had cars with it in the past and haven't been all that impressed with lumbar. My wife's Nissan Murano has it and it actually seems like it ends up hurting my back more than helping it.

What are the upgraded seats in the CM that come with lumbar support? Lounge leather? the leatherette and gravity leather are both sport seats.

I'm sure you've configured your heart out, just like me and most people here. The post was ment to point out that this car company is real good at extracting money from its loyal fans. How much could lumbar support cost? I'm sure they know exactly and have factored it in as just enough to get you to upgrade to the sport seats, but not too much to make you think it's not worth it. And you can actually save money by putting it in a convenient package. I know they have me hooked.

This is what is frustrating. We didn't find out that the leatherette didn't come with lumbar until people actually mentioned it here, because it's not on the configurator! Leatherette sport seats don't come with lumbar and the upgrades to the sport seats (cloth and leather) do.

Most people go straight to the configurator and ignore all the other buttons. There's a wealth of information under "Learn" that's specifically for explaining what bills itself as the car with millions of options. There were things that confused and frustrated me until I woze up and took full advantage of the web site.

Sealy...That's exactly what I did...went straight for the configurator, as I imagine most people would. Because "Learn" really doesn't scream "here's where you'll find all the fine print for your various options." Within the configurator, under the little info callouts for each option, they certainly could have provided that information. I don't think this is a ruse on their part, as it certainly is worth it to them to convince us to upgrade our seating. I think it was just an oversight. And for me personally, who knows if the lumbar would have done a single thing to fix what is becoming a very bad problem...buying the most expensive car I've ever owned and needing to take pain medication after every extended (90 minute plus) trip.

Are you traveling with my SO? The little cheat. Celebrating 31 years in a week and I've had to increase my dosage every gosh darn trip I take with him.

P.S. - The way some people drive, it won't be long before CMs start to show up in salvage yards. Should be an easy swap out.
