Looking for a replacement hood

I have a 71 Austin mini that has a fiberglass hood with no reinforcements and the gelcoat is cracking causing the paint to crack and chip. I'm located in southern Indiana and looking for a steel replacement.

Also, it's a MK1 hood/bonnet without the lip.

I think you mean its a mk3 with the lip removed as mk1 hoods have the hinges set in closer together

this is a mk3 hood/Bonnet

this is a mk1......sorry no bonnet

ummm

well maybe like me your original steel has been replaced by glass in the MK1 configuration.

You can get a steel MK1 bonnet from just about any decent Mini parts dealer.

Try Seven

and MiniMania for starters http://www.minimania.com/web/Item/24A1182/InvDetail.cfm

Ok, my mini body still has the mk3 hinge locations, but the hood/bonnet is pinned at all 4 corners...

I'd just assume keep it that way as far as the hood pins. Thanks for the education on mk1/mk3 as i'm new/newer to classic mini's.

So .. you have steel fenders but a glass bonnet that's pinned in?

I have glass for everything front of the seams . . . well 'cept the electrics and the grill of course. But the fenders are replaced by what most install as a flip front, with a sep' bonnet piece.

The bonnet comes off in seconds and the whole front clip comes off in about 2 minutes

Yea, that's what I have. The fenders were also welded/filled and de-seamed, but they forgot to do the rest of the car at the same time. My guess is there was a dent/dents and that was the cheapest fix...
