Winter has finally arrived here in Florida and I was driving around town in my 2003 MINI Cooper minding my own business when all of a sudden I hear a *BING* and then the onboard computer display starts flashing at me! I pressed the button for the onboard computer to scroll thru the other options and the only one that was flashing was the one for the external temperature which was 36°f. It didn't beep at me again but it stayed flashing for about a minute or so then stopped. What the hell was that all about? Do MINIs not like cold weather? I've only had the car for 3 months and I've just got 6000 miles on it and it runs beautifully. Am I going to have to live with a flashing display and a beep everytime it gets cold outside?

It actually bings @ 37degrees
It's a warning feature to advise that the roads may be hazzardous..due to possible iceing conditions.
Peace,
D

Well I guess that makes sense. The Florida winter lasts about 21 non-consecutive days and there is no need to worry about hazardous road conditions. The only ice found around here is in tall glasses of sweet tea, not on the road. Is there any way I can disable that feature?

Yes - aren't these MINIs smart? I love them! If it's 37 degrees in the air, the road over bridges and overpasses could freeze and thus your MINI will warn you to be careful on the road!!!

I live in Austin, Texas and Mr Bridger lives in a garage. However, over the past couple weeks, on the very cold mornings, I leave my garage and I can get about a half mile from home and then he Bings at me to say he's noticed it's cold outside. Cool, HU ??

I'd call the dealer - I've found there are 100 different ways they can change the programing on your car.

I do not have the onboard computer, my Temp and MPH display is standard one that comes on the car. I have my MINI set to show me the MPH all the time so I only hear the Bing,Bing,Bing. I then push the button to see the Temp and see it flash at me. I hit the button again and I'm back to MPH.

yah, i was wondering wat that was at first too. It also seems to ding and flash
when there is a sudden change in temp. It's kinda fun watching the temp dramatically drop when backing out of my garage.

>> What display do you have that shows temperature or mph? Is that unique to the MCS? I have a 2003 MC.
