What's this connector?

I'm putting my 2002 Cooper back together after changing the thermostat. Found this connector sticking out of a wiring harness near the battery. I don't see it's mate. Can any of you help me ID it?

may be wrong but if it is a jcw car from factory it may be the conector to the valve in the airbox of a jcw

I think at one time it was discussed that it has something to do with the battery itself. Not real sure though. Sorry man, it's been a few years since I owned a Cooper and now my mind is so trained on the S.
