Rats. Someone hit my Coop in a parking lot yesterday.

Left a note and their insurance card.

Got the tail light, bumper, and a tiny ding in the hatch with the rear end of his pickup truck, probably the trailer hitch. The damage appears to be very surface.

We have the same insurer and the guy is very apologetic, but obviously this is going to take some time. Not happy about it.

Sorry you got bumped but glad the guy was honest. Good luck with your repair. Hope you're motoring dent-free very soon.

-that would make me almost totally not upset about getting hit. That is a good person to do that.

Just the other day in San Francisco (where I work), I saw a lady in a large SUV try to parralel park into a tight spot. Her SUV was about a foot too long, yet she was determined. She mangled the car behind her by repeatedly banging into the car with hers until she got it out of the way. I watched the entire thing go down on my break. There was even a loud crunching sound as she mangled the front hood of this poor little car (it was a VW GTI). The front hood was actually rippled like an accordian -as her SUV bumper sat about a foot higher than the VW's bumper and thus she was ramming the hood of this car w/ her bumper. She got out and walked away as if nothing happened. I went over and put a note on the poor guys car w/ her license and my contact info.

Point is a lot of people dont' care about others property. Your story restores my faith a bit!

(oh, good luck with your car, I am sure when all is done it will be perfect again).

..if your wondering why I didn't stop the lady ..I've learned that you don't get involved in the city w/ other's problems ..unless there is something serious going down to an individual. Too many people in the city are nuts ...ain't worth getting shot or killed over trying to save property.

we got quite a few bad apples out there who think they own the roads. i just wish people like that would stop and think how much time you really end up saving by driving reckless. it doesn't amount to more than 1-5 minutes of your life just to be a bit more cautious when you drive.

sorry to hear about your accident. at least you are safe and that this one doesn't really effect driving dynamic of your mini.

Agreed. It wasn't even enough force to set off the 5 mph bumper shock absorbers, best we can tell. But it tore through a bit of the plastic fascia.

Glad it wasn't too serious, but I think you are going to be surprised at the repair cost!

Man, a couple people on here have gotten really lucky lately with people leaving notes... like others have said, I'd almost not be mad about the damage if someone did that.

Just over a year ago someone hit my car in a lot and left a football shaped dent in the side of my car, about 2-3 inches deep. cost me almost $700 to get it fixed

I agree with you 100%. In Chicago (especially Wrigleyville/Lakeview and Lincoln Park) I am certain people park using the braille method (all touch, no sight). I have seen people park demolition derby style into a space way too small for their car. People just don't seem to care anymore, but the op's situation came out with a positive outcome.
