HPFP warranty extention

FYI: I just got a letter from MINI about problems with the HPFP. They are extending the warranty to 10 years 120K on 07-09 models equipped with N14 turbocharged engines.

I guess NHTSA forced their hand. I hope you don't believe this is magnanimous gesture on BMW/MINIs part. All in all I'm happy for my R56 brothers & sisters.

You guys can only hope for a warranty extension for the timing chain assembly. (fingers crossed for ya!)

I believe the part # for the 2010 is an updated version of the pump, and hopefully those with a 2010 won't experience the same issue.

Good news indeed! Being black-listed by Consumers Reports magazine for engine fuel system problems must have been a factor.

What about us owners with 2010's? I guess it's not the fuel pump.

a humongous +1 to this!!!

I don't know if that is the problem I have been having. But, it sure sounds like a lot of people with 2010's are still having the problem with hpfp.

I will be pretty ticked off if the 2010's don't get the same courtesy.

Happier not, that is awesome for the rest of you guys with those models!

I hope this doesnt happen to my wifes Mini. I sold my 2008 335i due to hpfp problems. Very sad to see BMW not taking care of this problem. The extended warranty is nice but who wants to keep taking there car in for service over and over again for the same problem.

Yep, I got my letter, too. '09 MCS. Glad they're owning up to the issues people have reported.

I just hope if people with 2010 models really start having the problem more prevalently they will extend the warranty for us as well. It would give me much more piece of mind and let me really enjoy my MINI to the full extent. Until then, I am going to always have in the back of my mind if I made a terrible decision to buy a MCS.

+1.
But you know, I had a MCC for a loaner the last week and it really wasn't as much fun to drive. I don't think I'd want the non-turbo engine.

Had Mini sent this letter out a month earlier....I would not have traded the 2007 Mini Cooper S on a 2007 BMW Z4. So far I am VERY happy with my decision.

Yeah I hear ya there. I traded my 07 S in and I'm a little teed off.

I love my clubman but that just stings considering I was totally happy with my MCS minus all the trips to the shop!

Doesn't make me love the clubby less but...just... *@&$!...

it's good, but if I get stranded on the side of the road, I'll be pissed. They should just fix it.

I think BMW and Mini are working pretty hard on the problem. All the negative press and poor owner satisfaction can't be great for sales or their image. I wouldn't touch another Mini or 3 series with a direct injection engine until the issue is fixed.

This is GREAT news.

I had wanted an 07+ MCS for a while, but the seemingly frequent failure rate of the HPFP that reportedly costs $1000+ to replace was a one of the few items in the negatives column during my decision making process.

Despite my concerns, I ended up buying a used 2007 MCS a few days ago before I had heard this announcement. The factory warranty on my car expires in March. But this news makes me feel a lot better about my purchase.
