Has anyone gotten the dealer to swap out 17" crown spokes for black 17" crown spokes and if so how much did they charge you? The MINI configurater will not allow you to build a MINI with a white roof with black crown spoke wheels.

Am I the only one considering a MINI with a white roof that also wants black crown spokes?

Are they greyed out? I couldn't even find them at first, they're further down under Accessories.
I wanted white ones, the dealer quoted $270 per wheel. But if you're ordering new, you should ask them to swap them out for no cost and see if they go for it. They'll make it up somewhere else, by not giving you "Free" floor mats for example, etc.

 

The black crown spokes are available at not additional cost if you get the sport package with a black top MINI and they are also located under Performance/Wheels. However, if your MINI has a white roof the black crown spokes are greyed out and you cannot select them as an option.

 

Check with your dealer, back in 2008 there were things in the configurator that could not be purchased with certian packages but the dealer could over ride this on the actual order. The configurator is NOT the final word.

 

The configurator is correct. You cannot get black wheels with a white roof. You also can't get white wheels with a black roof.

 

I had this problem when I tried to "build my own" on the website. The dealer told me he can specify any wheel for the actual car when the order is placed. The website doesn't show or allow all wheel combinations for all models but they can be ordered. Many of the wheels that are usually shown in silver can also be ordered in black. I saw the actual process my dealer used to order my clubman with black crowns. Even more combinattions can be had through "special order" which is processed by hand notation on the order form. You may need to be persistent, not all dealers or salesman know all the ins and outs of the system. Good luck,
