Whooped by a Honda Civic....

Today on my way home from work I pulled up to a stoplight. Some guy in an all white modded Honda Civic pulled up next to me, wouldn't even look at me and kept revving it up, trying to look all bad ***. I decided It was time to show him up. Light went green, he gave it all he could and so did I, he beat me by a 1/2 car length to the next stoplight, I couldn't believe it! It took me a while to figure out what i had done wrong... Then I realized.... I was driving my Truck (No real road racing just a joke.)

My God!!!! Come on now people, do you not think the mods are ruthless enough. Joke or not, chill out with the racing on road posts. I get very irrate with the snarky attitudes when they close posts, so let's make it a habit not to give them that satisfaction please. And just in case, IB4TL!!!!!

Damn Hondas

At the dyno shop monday, there was a 1000hp honda civic and a 900 something HP honda there. Pretty safe to say they'd stomp all over pretty much anything out there. And no, I'm not a big supped up honda guy, but they were done very nicely.

Oh, and their exhaust was a straight pipe out the front bumper from the turbo. We didn't get to hear them run, but I'd also be willing to bet that they were LOUD!!!

lol that might be funnier then my post. Clearly a joke and if the mods want to lock I am fine with it. If you get irate over this post or comments when post are locked you might want to take a break from the forums.

LOL, I doubt it will get locked as it was clearly a joke. My IBTL was only for the fun of it. It is like a tradition.

I've been here officially for 6 years and I only have a little more than 4,000 posts. Trust me, I take breaks from here. I just hate some of the snarky attitude involved when a thread is closed. It's bad business and very immature.

Anyway, there are a lot of Hondafanatics around here. It's funny how crappy their cars look, but how fast and performance oriented they are. We're lucky companies like RMW are around to do serious R&D on our cars.

When I was looking at buying my MINI I had a sales rep try and convince me into buying an 06 civic si. I told her there was no way I will ever drive a Honda.

I was looking at civic si as well when I was shopping for the MCS.

fun car for sure, but in the end, only Honda I'll ever drive over cooper is S2000 and NSX.

Exactly, and I would rather have a Mazda Miata over a S2000.

IMO Mini's have way more class than Honda's. I outgrew street racing years ago but that was a funny post!

But the thread on the gent that was racing a Pinto (or was it a Mustang) was funnier...

I would drive a Honda, and I have in the past. They are light and take to mods verry well, plus there is a verry large aftermarket behind them. If I could find another 88-91 CRX in great shape I would probably pick it up for a future project. As long as I could afford to build a new Honda turbo motor every month or two it would be great.

Yep, but you'd probably have to pry it from the hands of one of the top ST* National Tour drivers -- those puppies are much in demand these days, and I have the scars to demonstrate why!

Now that I'm thinking, there's a Street Mod CRX that has been running up in New England this year. It's a ferocious beast with an alleged 300 HP, and having watched it while course working I have no doubt. It will spin the front Hoosiers and go sideways every time the throttle is opened, unless the car is pointed straight ahead - a really impressive show. After bouncing off the rev limiter on every course I've seen it run, the motor broke a few weeks ago. I am sure it will be back though...

All my H-emblem buddies replace atleast 1 engine a year. One of wich got built, went to the dyno, put out almost 280 naturally aspirated hp, then put a rod out the side of the block on the way home.

I really dont see the point of a 1000HP civic. Any FWD car over 250HP is a waste of time IMO. Im sure there are exceptions, but the torque steer would be ridiculous w/o LSD and proper weight distribution.

check out SCCA Forums -- there's a high horsepower Civic for sale that is apparently notorious...

it has been converted to AWD!

http://sccaforums.com/forums/post/400737.aspx -- (Only 420 HP on race gas apparently)

Funny you should mention the 89 CRX Dicks Garage R53. the first car I ever owned was an 89 CRX si. I loved that car and never had a problem with it. I can't believe that was over 20 years ago! Wow I feel old now! lol

I have owned 2 CRX'es both '91 si's, replaced the motor in both, went through 3 transmisions in the second one. I built #2 as a show car after my first deployment, blew the motor again in 2005 and it is still taking up space in my garage with no engine. Both of them where a blast to drive though.
