Anyone listen to Sirius through iPhone in MINI?
Hi
I have read about the Sirius app for iPhone and was wondering if it can be used to play satellite radio in my MINI through the ipod adapter cable provided . . . the cable works great to play my music from my iPhone, so I was curious about whether I could use it to access Sirius as well. All comments welcome!

So, i tried the Sirius app back in May after hearing from schatzy62 and reading the attached threads. It did not work. Well, actually, it played for about 2 seconds, then flipped back to my iPod. So frustrating. So I gave up. But recently, I gave it another try and it seemed to be working fine. I was so excited and I thought that perhaps my software update had done the trick. Nope. Sirius worked fine for about 3 days. Now, Sirius plays only for about 2 seconds, then the iPod cuts in again. I have given up and am so irritated!
thanks anyway . . .

sounds like a iPhone problem more than a MINI problem as the only wire you should have hooked up is the AUX part the USB "WILL" need to be disconnected so that the MINI does not take over the iPod function int eh iPhone.

I have read a lot of negative reviews about Pandora, so I am little hesitant to try it. Plus, now I am just going to be stubborn and get my iPhone app to work even if it kills me!
Now with that said there are a lot of people that complain about the contact points in the USB port of the car. I have experienced it my self ti may seem like the cable is pushed in properly but in reality it is not so there is no connection for the data lines of the USB connector. And if that is the case then it would work until the cable came into proper contact with the USB port and then it would stop working.
The USB connection MUST not be connected for it to work.
schatzy62: Well, I tried again, making sure to disconnect the USB, and the app played fine. I drove all the way home, and to work again this morning, about 30 min each way, and it played the entire time. The only issue that crept up was that maybe once or twice, the sound muted, almost going completely off, but then came back on fine. I attribute that to perhaps either weather interference with the satellite (we had some storms here yesterday), or maybe the AUX cable was coming loose. This morning I checked to make sure the AUX cable was in tightly, and did not really notice any more issues with the sound. I wil continue to watch it over the weekend, but thanks!
I've been streaming Sirius through my aftermarket belkin bluetooth (via the aux input) and have not had a problem yet!
I've used the Sirius app, but the selection is limited. I would suggest trying the 'Podcast Tunes' app. It allows you to enter your sirius login and access ALL stations (including Howard Stern).

Theres a few problems i have seen with this thread. If your using the sirius app on the iPhone, it has nothing to do with the satellites, your using the Internet only to receive the broadcast. Lot of times, your internet stream is interrupted so you might loose the broadcast, usually due to cell reception. Secondly, if your using the aux input from the headphone jack on the iPhone 4, you will run into an impedance mismatch that will make a static sound to come out of your speakers in the mini. You can wiggle the patch cable and the static will change which leads you (incorrectly) to assume you have a bad wire or jack, but it is neither. You can rectify is by getting an adapt that connects to the bottom data jack on the iPhone that utilizes the line out. Then it will play perfectly clear. For reference, i have a 2009 s without any of the convenience iPhone stuff, only the aux input.
You need one of these

And you will have perfectly clear audio from iphone4 to aux input
