Playing YouTube audio over iPhone integration

On occasion, I’ve been able to listen to YouTube audio using my iPhone integration. However, usually what I encounter as soon as I plug in my iPhone and switch from “radio” to “iPod” is that it’ll start playing the first song on my alphabetical list (let’s say ABC by the Jackson 5). Then when I switch to YouTube and try to play something, it’ll play the YouTube content for a split second and then revert back to playing ABC. I feel like I need to tell the iPod to stop playing ABC so that the YouTube content can come through. However, when the iPhone is plugged into the MINI, I can’t access the “stop” command on my iPhone and there is no way to stop a song using MINI controls.

So does anyone know how to consistently play YouTube audio through their iPhone integration?

I have run across this as well however, I discovered that if you switch to the "AUX" input instead of "iPod" you can then listen to the audio output of the iPod without the stereo trying to control the iPod functions. You will of course need to then control YouTube directly from your iPod (or iPhone). I use this method to listen to Pandora.

Unfortunately when the USB takes over the iPod you loose control as that is how the iPod is designed. To listen to anything other than the iPod itself you will need to disconnect the USB and use teh iPod itself for control.

Thank you, thank you! Removing the USB works!!! (But now I’m questioning why I paid $500 for the iPod integration!! Oh well, the Bluetooth is still nice to have).

Now whenever I want to listen to something on You Tube, I can play it over my speakers which opens up a whole vast new world of driving entertainment. If it’s related to music, I’ve discovered that I can go to Sound Hound, hmmm a few bars of my favorite song, and then be able to listen to it from You Tube…songs on demand!!! I also tried using an app called Baby Scratch in the car which is a complete blast through your cars speakers (make sure you’re at a long stop light or something if you’re using it). Anyhow, thanks for the tip on removing the USB, I feel like the power of my iPhone is now released!
