Looks sharp. Imported?

What year is it really? SPI or MPI? I won't pass judgement, I own a re-vin too.

Thanks for the nice comments folks. I have to admit, the exterior almost looks showroom clean in the pics. Here is one of the inside. It is a 1975 (1994 Japan Spec) SPi from New Zealand with 40K miles.

I have a few mods planned. As far as the exterior I don't really want to do much, just maybe add a couple more lights on the front grill. I'm a sucker for the 4 light look. A question about that, since mine already has the 2 lights is it easy to just wire up the 2 extra and anyone have a link to what I need to purchase? I also would like to change the amber front turn indicators to clear.

For the interior I am thinking of adding black floor mats and that's about it.

Engine-wise I am planning a stage 3 performance package with new head, rockers, plugs, exhuast and filter.

Very nice! I'm a huge fan of the BRG/W color combination! Let us know how your stage 3 upgrades go.

I think it is a Lotus. The pic is when my car was in NZ still waiting to be boarded on the ship. It was next to a classic Ferrari too. I'll look for that pic. Poor little car probably felt intimidated surrounded by all that muscle

Here's the front of my car with a classic Ferrari (I think) next to it.

Well, got her home after an ordeal. Woudn't start at the port holding area and had to tow to a shop who got it running by replacing fuse and fuse connector to the fuel pump. It was a hack job cutting out the OEM fuse holder and crimping in a modern C type fuse but it works and runs. The car runs well but has a grind going into 2nd gear so looks like it will need a rebuild of the trnasmission. Also the tire are cracked and tread seperating so needs tires (they look like they might be the original ones). Car leaks oil as well, possibly at the valve cover but not sure if elsewhere as well. The body and interior are in very good to excellent condition as advertised though. I'm going to ask the seller for some compensation for not disclosing the transmission problem. Updates to follow. I love the car despite it's potential money pit problems

Sorry to hear about your trouble. You certainly arent the first to have a car get off the boat and have these sort of issues.

Leaks oil? What Mini doesnt? If you've got to get some stuff rebuilt, might as well deal with the leak and the transmission at the same time.

Good luck on getting some compensation back. Hell, good luck even getting a response from the seller. He got his money, the car is gone and its not like you can knock on his door demanding something back. Who knows, with the cars he has in his garage, he might be a nice guy that isn't hurting for money

These cars WILL nickle and dime you to death but boy are they fun.

Minis are like Ford trucks ...

They don't leak, they just mark their territory

Ugh... I know what you're going through. I bought my Mini off of Ebay and the seller wasn't completely truthful about the condition of the engine and transmission. My car came with the factory installed oil leak at the shift rod selector seal (which is a cheap fix) and my transmission also grinds when shifting into second gear.

Stock up on some cardboard or buy a rubber mat to park your car over or else you'll have oil stains EVERYWHERE!

Yeah, there is already a pretty nice size area of oil stain on my floor from the car. I kind of expected that but not disclosing the grinding trans was less expected. The seller is a pretty nice guy though and I'm trying to convince him he should give me a small refund since I am going to have to spend some significant cash to repair it. I guess these problems come with the territory and are part of the charm of owning a Brittish Car
