Local service shop for MCS 2003

Hello....Haven't use this forum for a while. Anyone knows a reliable repair shop in Honolulu? Mine is 7 years old and can't see spending the $$ at the dealership.

I guess it depends on what you need done. I like and recommend MotorWerkes.

Thanks...I took it in to replace AC compressor. Next job is fixing the door locks (actuators). I compared what Motorwerks charged (including diagnoses) with the dealer. On average, it was about 2/3 of what the dealer quoted. However, there is no written warranty on the work, although they say bring it back if something goes wrong.

So you had it done at MotorWerkes? Yeah, Gerard is local style but definitely a good guy and I wouldn't worry about the warranty.

Yes I did. I got it back the same day. AC working fine since (about a month now). About $1600 for replacing compressor and all the necessary stuffs that goes with it. Dealer would charge $2200 (with a 2-year warranty).

For basic stuff like oil changes you can go anywhere even Gemini Goodyear in your area.

For MINI work you can try Motorwerkes as mentioned- he's been around for a very long time and is helpful and friendly with MINI work.
No problem on warranty with him.

For upgrade work you can contact Seth at Sonic on Republican in the Sand Island area, they've done much MINI upgrades.

I can highly recommend Gerard. I used him when I had my Porsche 924S and saw all sorts of EuroStuff there. They did good work, the prices were fair, and ...they have a 935K in the garage.

Another option is Chris Stroemer of Air Cooled Engines. He specializes in Porsche but has been doing work on MINIs for a while.

He can also tune your ECU and get you more power!

his work # is 591-8222
