JCW v GT-R

Took the JCW to Brands Hatch for a track day, great fun and I was amazed at how brilliant the MINI was - as were a lot of people :D Here's a friendly battle I had with a Nissan GT-R

Awesome! Is that JCW's motor stock? Sure seems to have awesome acceleration between 50-80 mph.

You clearly are a more experienced driver than Mr. Nissan. Seeing that in-car at BH makes me think of the mid 90s BTCC, Where Rydell was terrorizing the likes of Winkelhoch, Soper and Tarquini in his Volvo station wagon. I think those years, just as Alfa started putting real money into the series was the best road racing ever. Classic paint swapping.

Sweet video! And yeah I agree with the others...that guy in the Nissan should have been able to get away from you!

Good driving though!

Boo GT-Rs are weak sauce!! jk not really...but they are way heavier than what they should be considering it's displacement is only 3.8, not exactly massive engine and it ways 4k pounds. but its stock 470bhp compared to the JCW's 208bhp is quite a difference of course the jcw weighs probably half what the GT-R weighs and cost half what it does. Moral of the story instead of a GT-R, spend another 30k snag a ZR1 that stock weighs 3300 pounds and makes 640bhp

Nice! You passed him at the same spot every time! It looked fairly straight at that spot so I'm a little surprised.

That GT-R driver sucks, riding his brakes the whole time! Looks like fun though!

I believe that the GTR driver is also missing his turn in and Apex as well.

I have been on a number of tracks with very experienced GTR drivers. I would say that the GTR can be a really fantastic track car.

Yup plenty of things the GTR driver is doing wrong. I guess everyone who's interested needs to learn though sooner or later!

An evo or sti are fantastic track cars to me, I can only imagine how awesome it would be to track a GTR!

Last year, I was at NHIS and advanced drivers in the GTRs were running 1:13s while the best Minis were running 1:25s.

You'd think one would learn at some point before being able to blow money on a GTR. Oh well better late than never, at least he's actually using the car

Dunno why everyone here is ragging on the GTR driver. Maybe he's new at it? Maybe he just got into the track now? Maybe it's a grandma having a BLAST? So what if he didn't learn in something else. I would like to learn in a GTR.

For me, I'm just Jealous, because I learned in a $800 BMW 1602 with a hole in the floor I could literally fit through. Had a bad tranny, brakes and clutch too.

Unrelated, locally there was a rich 18-ish year old kid who had a GT-R and totaled it driving it into a barrier or something. He and his sister ended up getting arrested for insurance fraud after the insurance company found videos of the incident on youtube. I'm of the belief that if you're learning how to drive you should do something you can manage. It's like giving a Ducatti to a kid that's only ridden a scooter.

I'm just all over the place now...

Looks like you had a great time and excellent camera!!! IMHO, your pushing way too hard in the corners. Tires squealing like that is slow, meaning your over the limit of traction of the tires!
