Picked it up in March of '03. It's a Black/Black MCS with all three packages, HK sound, Navigation, Sunroof, auto ac, etc. basically every option but the PDC. 8,300mi on the clock (about).

Mods include:
- 17" BBS RZ wheels painted black with a silver lip(flawless)
- Yokohama Parada Spec2 215/40's that are about 2k miles old with plenty of tread left.
- Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs which have been on the car for Under 1000miles
- Mini Mania 15% pulley + belt (5000miles)
- MINI Madness CAI (6000miles)
- Boral Race exhaust (my favorite part, 2000 miles)
- B&M Short Shifter from PROMINI (Under 100miles)

I may be selling the car soon, and I just wanted to get an idea as to how much I might get for it. This is what the car looks like now.

Thanks
Tom

i would buy your car in a new york minute,
but i've got a lot of legal issues to resolve before
i can think about replacing my poor totalled mini.
i'd say your car is a keeper, please don't sell that beauty!

Really nice car. Historically, mod'ed cars can be rough sells and you can be lucky to get a fraction of the mod's cost over the normal value of the car.

But black on black seems kinda rare, and the wheels look really nice... so I'd hazard a value of around $25k. Maybe a bit more depending on how strong the used market is in your area.

Basically, if you're trying to ballpark a price, I don't think that you should expect to get ANY money for the mods. Typically, mods scare people off more than they attract, because the assumption is that you rode it hard. The only exceptions I would see to this rule would be high-end suspension mods (I for one would pay a premium for a car with nice coilovers, camberplates, etc.). If I were you, I would look at the sticker that you paid for the car, and then subtract perhaps 10%, and put it on the market for that. Under 10,000 miles basically means "like new" to most buyers. Keep us informed as to how you end up going with it!

I wouldnt give you a penny, because you're supposed to keep that beauty.

I agree with Chitown_COOP, mods actually lower the value of a car (to the average joe) and scare them away, but if you were selling to the right buyer then... But I'd expect you to get around 20k perhaps. I'm too lazy to go over to KBB.com to look, but maybe you should try that.

davebret's car with similar mods plus stereo went for $22k to $23k not to log ago. I paid $22,400 for mine with 8400 miles and no mods. It's much cheaper to buy a car with the mods already done if you can find one. Used high performance parts usually are worth half the new price. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I think the fair way to go about selling a car with mods is to follow this simple formula. (Cost of mods at a current selling price - brand new stock items) + cost of the car stock. This way, you are only getting a gain on the difference of the price of the products you replaced on the car, and not making a double profit. I still have the stock wheels, exhaust, springs, shifter, etc. and I could potentially sell them as well if I wanted. Hopefully that made sense.

It all depends on what people want. Some people want a car with mods already, some don't. I figured 23 would be a good guess as to what I might get for it. We will see, IF the time comes here in a few months.

Thanks again everyone.
Tom
