Hey gang: I've got 32,000 miles on the OE run-flats on the '07 MCS, and I'll be lucky to get another 5K out of them. Before you accuse me of driving like an old man, I are one.

My primary concerns for replacement RF tires are road noise and tread longevity. I don't hot-dog the car (well, occasionally) so super high end cornering performance is not a concern.

Has anyone put over 20K on the Kumho Ecsta SPT 16" RF? Tread life? Road noise? Would you re-purchase?

I had them on my '07 and they were horrible. The car did not handle nearly as good, which I could have lived with. However, the tires wore really bad. The problem is that the inside third of the tire cupped and within 1500 miles, the tires were garbage.

If you are going to stay with run flats, spend the $$ and go OEM.

 

Hmm. I had the opposite experience with the Kuhmos (17"). They lasted a little over 22k before I felt they no longer safe to drive on.

 

To finish off this thread, I ended up purchasing a set of the all-season Bridgestone Turanza Serenity non-RF 205/55R16 tires (and a couple cans of tire inflater stuff). These tires are highly rated on the Tire Rack.com site, and there's an extensive on-track comparison with lots of numbers and charts. These tires rate near the top for wear, low road noise, and wet road conditions - a high priority out here on the OR coast.

The reduction in road noise from the old OE all-season run-flats (36,000 miles) is HUGE! I can actually hear the ventalition fan now ...

FYI That would point to a problem with your alignment. Particularly the Toe settings.



We have non-run flat Kumho SPT on our stock 06 MCS. 25k miles on them and have about another 5k left.
