Problem regarding tires and need your help

I have this problem. I am looking for some wintertires for my rims which are 16" with et35 and I found 205/50/16. They are so damn expensive and I want to know if 205/55/16 wouldnt work on my 05 mini cooper s

Did you look at 195/55 16s? They may be a little better in the snow than 205s.

Also Tirerack has a special rebate on snows now, $25-$50 rebate off 4 tires.

The 195 cost as much as the 205 here in Iceland so I thought I would go with the 205.
Its to much cost for me to go through tirerack due to the customs here in Iceland.

Sorry, did not see your sig location in Iceland.

But 195 do handle better in snow than 205.

Just curious, how much are these tires in Iceland?

Well, due to the fact that there is crisis and the currency is 100% higher the price in dollars is 640 dollars for all 4 Good Year tires. On the normal currency that was before it is 1230 dollars. Due to the fact that its the same money as always it is still 1230 for me here in Iceland, but if you would want to buy something from Iceland its so much cheaper. You maybe looking for something??

Sorry, not looking for anything. Also nothing to sell you.

Just to satisfy my curious nature.

If it is installed and balanced, $640 is not bad.

Good luck on your search.

If there is a way to put a skinnier 16" tire on your MCS, you will get through the snow more easily [the narrower width cuts throug the snow better]. I have an MC as well as an MCS, but found some 195-50-16s for the MC. I figure I am not going to be driving like a maniac in the snow and ice, anyway, so the tradeoff should work. I wonder, though, if that tire size might work on your MCS, as well...maybe even save you some money.

Hey AP !

Those rims and tires will be fine. I have 16's on now with a 38 et. bit of a wider stance, more noticible from the back.....

But as far has performance in the snow goes, Slinger688 is right, the 195's are the better option.

Any luck on the B&M SSK yet ?

I am running 205 55 16 for the Winter on my 04 MCS, have had no issues at all in the snow. I use the general Artic Altimax, you can look at it on the Tirerack.com website

It hasnt arrived yet, but It will soon I hope. I also ordered a new Shift **** because I broke the original off when I was throwing it into second gear while racing a friend. It was already broken but I finished it.
