Hello all,

New member here - about a week ago I purchased my (first) Mini. It's an '05 Cooper S, hyper blue/white roof. 6spd, navigation, cold weather, lapis blue/black leather, etc. Good stuff - I love it. Anyways, I have a question about the navigation. I've been reading up on it a lot because I was initially disappointed with the navigation coming from my Garmin 265WT - it seemed very basic. I checked the DVD version and I am running a 2003.2 cd, which I will eventually update to the 2009.2 whenever it comes out (the 'high' version I believe). I checked my version of nav as well and it was 4-1/40. I believe that means MkIV and 1/40 is the last update? I followed the steps I found on here and Xoutpost and burned the V32 image onto a dvd and got it loaded into my navigation (first try, which was surprising). Initially I didn't notice much different but once I read about how to get it into perspective mode that changed it visually and made it look 100% better. One thing I am confused about is the State/province section when looking for a destination. I read that where you select USA, it has State/province now - but when I select it to choose a state, it still just has USA / Canada. Is there something to change in the settings to change this? I was/am a bit confused about that.

I am confused - What does you Garmin 265WT have to do with you MINI nav system?

 

Nothing - I was just saying that when I first used the MCS nav I was a bit disappointed because I was happy with my Garmin I used to use in my old car (gave it to the fiance since I have the factory nav now). After I did the V32 update I am much happier with it as it's much better visually (more 3D, shadows, etc.)
