Not sure I'm following you.

I understand you want the wheels in the 17 x 7 size. Right or Wrong?

You can't put a 215/35/18 tire on a 17 x 7 wheel. An 18 tire is too big for a 17 rim, just won't work.

Yes you can.
But that is a bit expensive for generic steel wheels.
For that price you can get forged alloys.

If you are looking at 18 inch rims, then I would use tire size 215/40/18. In that size I am partial to Pirelli PZero Nero's All season non runflats.....Also, you probably have TPMS in your car...( Tire Pressure Monitoring System ) those sending units which mount inside the rim will be an additonal cost to you and any rim you buy will have to be TPMS compatible....

35 profile tires are not so good but are recommended as the appropriate tire profile by Tire Rack and other stores. Problem is that that profile makes your rims suseptable to bending and dents from bumps and pot holes........but what do they care not their problem ? So stay with profiles above that which will fit whenever possible unless you have a large wheel budget to work off of.

For example. I seen 225/40/18's fit on 06's w/ JCW suspension which are 1/2 lowered and yet had no modifications to the cars fenders or liners. So you can't believe everything some tire shops tell ya.

I figure it like this. There are MINI owners who just take their cars to the dealer for everything, then there are those who do research, read books, and do their own stuff. Not sure what catagory you fall into or aspire to be....But if you want to learn some stuff, keep asking questions here, and brush up on some stuff long before buying anything from anyone.....including vendors.

Here are a couple of sites which may help regarding wheel offset and increasing tire sizes and rim sizes / profiles.....

The second site is from my Miata site, but application is the same for any car.
