Dent Removal

About a month ago some jerk kicked a good sized dent in the side of my car. I was looking around online to see if there was any way I could just fix it myself. Then I stumbled upon this:

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/501379...ith_airduster/

Has anyone done anything like that before? It seems way too good to be true. I'd also be a little worried that it would eat right through my Astro Black paint.

Might be worth a shot if you guys don't think it's too ridiculous of an idea.

How large is your damage, if it is not the size of a foot,I would recommend stopping by one of your areas larger car lots and speak to their PDR tech, most all lots use these guys and they do good work at a decent price, If the PDR says he can't help then you might try the CO2..

It was the size of a foot, but a few hours later half of it popped itself out, and made 2 smaller dents. I remember the PDR guy that I had do my hail dents said it was too large to get out that way.

I just thought the video was interesting, although it's on a plastic bumper.

I'll try to take some pictures of the dent in the morning.

Plastic will not react the same way as a metal body panel, it might though dont know, let me know if it does work on plastic, I have worked on a few bumpers that if something like that works would have made my job eaiser..

Well the video example was on the plastic bumper, and I'm guessing that metal won't really change that much when you heat it up with just a hair dryer.

But we'll see, it's worth a shot.

Cause I can't see your link cause I am at work. I had a dent in the corner of the bumper of my old car and I took an iron and warmed up the plastic and slowly pushed it out. It worked fine had the paint not been already scratched up I would love to have seen if it would have not cracked the paint.

I've seen similar video clips on metal painted surfaces using dry ice. (solid CO2). Just be sure to use a thick leather glove!!!

Personally, I'd just go to a PDR tech. Those guys can work wonders. I had a major hail storm with softball sized hail (fortunately the mini was in the garage), but my CR-V and my wifes Accord took a beating. All fixed via PDR.
