Replacing Grill

I am going to replaces my justacooper's stock chrome grill with the JCW one from out motoring. I have been searching the forum for some instructions but all that I seem to find are threads about the lower grill. I am most worried because it is not pre cut. How hard is this? What tools will I need? Any one of pics of the install? If there is a thread, please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Thanks, that helped a bit, but it was for a S if that makes a difference. Also I wanted to see pics, or at least good directions about cutting the new grill.

Not sure what you mean about cutting the grille. I got a JCW grille for my Cooper and popped the reusable plastic rivets off the top of the grille and then it just snapped out. Placed the lower chrome trim on the JCW grille and snapped it back in replaced the plastic rivets and was done. it took about 10 minutes to complete.

you only need to cut the grill if you have driving lamps installed

Makes no difference (the bottom trim piece is different but the method is the same).

Open bonnet. Pull the 4 plastic 1/4" round plastic rivets/heads that are lined up across the flange of the grill as it connects to the cowl. Once those are out pull the lower grill trim straight outward and squeeze the four Giant clips/tabs along the bottom of the stock grill. Pull grill off completely and replace using existing hardware. Lower trim just clicks back into place. No hardware along the bottom, aside from the molded in clips that are part of the grill.....

Thanks. Sounds like it won't be to hard. I don't actually get my MINI until Saturday but the grill and antenna are defiantly going to be my first mods.

Here's a question. Will the standard Just a Cooper grille fit a R56 MCS?

Interested in the justa grill on the S also

I really do like the look of the crome grill on the Justa better than the black "S" grill.

Are the two interchangeable? Will the bigger grill slats effect performance/cooling?

Finally, has anybody ever done this and maybe...posibly(sp)...could provide pictures?

Cheers
Dan

When I bought my JCW grille for my non-S, someone with an S bought my chrome grille from me. I don't know if it ever fit though. I want to say the 2 grilles have different attachment points on the car.

I've been interested in doing this too but evidently it isn't possible without much modification. I found this quote on Motoring File:

"The chrome grille doesn’t just clip on in place of the mesh grille on the Cooper S. The radiator support on the Cooper S extends further forward to accommodate the turbo. Because of that, the Cooper grille does not fit without extensive modification. Unless the Cooper D grille is different from the normal Cooper grille."

You might want to take a close look at the chrome grille, it may not be as "open" as you think, mine has only one slat open, the other two are not.
