R56 Radio/Speaker issue?
Radio/Speaker issue?
Today when I ran to lunch no sound came out of my speakers. I flipped between AM, FM, and CD. Judging by the display the head unit was operating (I could change stations, skip tracks, etc.), but no sound. I was going to call MAG when I got back to work, but when I hopped in after lunch I was greeted by AM talk. Boost radio, nothing regarding audio has been modded.
Anyone ever have their speakers go on strike?

Thanks for the input, but ya I'm sure. The display showed all of the radio functions. I could change stations, switch from AM to FM etc. Same when I switched to CD.. skip and seek through tracks. Had I not left my phone at home I would have tried the bluetooth, although as everything else that used the speakers was not emitting audio I suspect it would have been no different. I also reset the audio settings in the config, twisted the volume ****, and put in the soundtrack to the '69 version of the italian job just in case it wanted to listed to something it liked. Alas, not even self preservation society would coax it out of its silence.
My speakers just went on strike :(.
exact same symptoms, no sound from radio/cd/aux, no gong, no warning tones.
all radio and computer functions are still working as they should.
Happened when I turned off the radio to talk on the phone. Parked and went for a meeting, when I got back, turned on the radio but there was nothing.
Checked a bunch of fuses (not sure which one is for speakers) and all of the ones I checked were good. No idea what's going on. Maybe it's a coincidence, but this comes a week after DIY speaker upgrade and 3 days after x9331 channel swap. the speaker connections should all be pretty good. didn't have a soldering gun but made sure all connections were reinforced with electrical tape and sealed with glue.
any suggestions?

Agreed, sounds like it just needs a quick reset. If this happens a lot, it is the radio, not the speakers. Probably the amplifier going on strike!!!!!!

found the cause.
Apparently, if you have one single loose connection to your speakers, your entire speaker system goes silent. Makes a diagnoses a PITA, but it's solved, and I'm REALLY GLAD it wasn't one of the rear speakers.
