Road trip out west (Yellowstone etc).
We're going on a road trip. For our anniversary (15th) in August, we've decided to take a road trip to Wyoming, to see the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Getting there will be a quick sprint across Nevada and Southern Idaho. The way back will be a little more leisurely we'll also be making stops in Salt Lake City and Lake Tahoe.
Any suggestions for particularly good driving roads around here? Anythings not to be missed?
We're going to be passing by the Bonneville Salt FLats. Their web site says you can go drive on it when nothing's happening.

I loved the Beartooth Highway, which is highway 212 between the NE entrance to Yellowstone and Red Lodge, Montana. It is very scenic. Also, the east entrance going towards Cody, Wyoming is also nice. All of Yellowstone is great.

I'll second the Beartooth Highway. The Chief Joseph Senic Highway ( 296 ) north of Cody on the way up to the Beartooth is a nice drive, especially over Dead Indian pass. Also the Bighorn Mt. loop from Cody up through Powell, Lovell, Burgess Junction, Shell, and Greybull. Outside of Lovell there is a side trip ( 37 ) thru wild horse range. Another is the Bighorn Basin loop through Meeteese, Thermopolis Hot Springs, and the Shoshone Wilderness.
I have a friend that moved to Cody so I get there once or twice a year. Lots of good trout fishing in that area also. The Buffalo Bill museum in Cody is very nice with a large gun collection and many other things to see. Not to be missed if you are a western buff. I go there every time I'm in Cody. Check out the Irma Hotel while you are there.

Thanks.
The trip's going well, I'll eventually get more pictures up, there's a taster below.
One thing we've noticed out here is a lack of MINIs. We may have seen 2 in all the time we've been out of California.

Nice pictures.
I used to live very close to where you took many of those shots of the Tetons.
If I had seen this thread before I would have given you some nice winding scenic roads to try out.
Brings back pleasant memories.
