R56 Engine response varies
Engine response varies
I've been noticing this "issue" over the past couple months and i'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
Once and a while when I take off from a light my MCSa feels a bit sluggish and will feel that way until I shut off the engine and restart. I have no problems hitting high RPMs, she just kinda dogs it though. Typically the engine is very responsive, and yes I realize the Sport button will make it even more responsive but thats obviously not the root of the problem.
Any ideas what it could be? I'm thinking performance would vary with temperature/weather but i'm not sure if it would be this noticeable.

Could be the type of fuel you use... Try using a different gas station if you typically use 1 gas station in your neighborhood. Also try using a higher octane. One last thing, make sure you always put 91 octane fuel or higher.
I've never put anything but the recommended 91 octane in. I almost always use Chevron, but your right it could vary from station to station.
I checked my oil last night and that seems to be getting low so maybe a top off will solve the issue.

Well just to give a follow-up and close this one incase anyone else has a similar problem. I topped off the oil the other night with a little over a quart of Mobil 1 0W-40 and my R56 is back to normal. Engine response is much better, its like night and day.
I never expected a brand new car to consume that much oil over 10K miles but lesson learned. I need to monitor the oil a bit more frequently.

I haven't changed my oil and I have 15000 on it... The book says 25000 Km and that's when I'm gonna do it

I think there's enough threads on this topic already, but yeah, the book says 15K. Being an engineer, I respect Mini/BMW's engineer's decision on this one. They know more about the engine design and oil properties than I do. If they're smart enough to design a great car, I trust they understand how to maintain it as well.

I do agree MINI engineers know what they're doing
