H&R vs. H-Sport (Hotchkis) quality?

Hello All,

I just purchased another vehicle and want to lower it as I have my current one. I used the H-Sport springs on my current MINI but I was wondering what the concensus is regarding H&R lowering springs. Are they a quality product?

Thanks.

I have the H&R RSS CLubsport coilovers and they are great. H&R is definitely a quality company.

Yes, H&R is a very reputable company. Combined with Koni yellows (sport adjustable), the H&R sport springs were perfect on my previous '00 GTI. Best riding 'lowered car', I've ever owned.

I had H&R springs with stock shocks on my 03 MCS they were fine. The H&R springs were good quality.
Since you state on another vehicle I would guess a non-Mini. H&R should be a good choice.

Don't mess with either of them. Get the TSW springs.

The TSW's are hardly what I would call lowering springs. I cant even tell in the pictures of them which one is lowered.

I have run Koni, Tein, Alta and H&R springs, and its a tie between the Koni and Alta springs for me.

I think the TSW's are the only linear lowering springs available besides the JCW's. They do drop the car, but not like, IMHO, all the progressive springs out there which just sag after a few thousand miles because the progressive section has collapsed. If the OP has the H-Sport's he can look at them and see for himself. If you really want to drop it just get a set of coilovers, preferably with some retrofited Swift springs. There may also be some Swift lowering springs on the way, but I expect quite a wait if it happens at all.

I have 100k miles on the H&R Coil Over setup that Turner Motorsports did for me.

No issues so far.

That's quality to me.

^ Agreed. Only about 25k on my H&R Clubsports, but they are holding up great. Daily driver, winter and all. so they have seen their share of potholes and whatnot.

Since the OP said 'another vehicle', I'll assume he means 'non-MINI'. Therefore, TSW springs are not an option. H&R and H-Sport make springs for a variety of vehicles, and well known as very good springs. My experience with H&R are very good. Can't comment on H-Sports, as I've never used them.

Thanks for ALL the input on this. I did not want to [initially] say what vehicle I am shopping for, but considering the lack of response I am getting on "their" forum, the "car" is an '09 Toyota Venza.

As far as I could tell, when I did the research prior to my H-Sports purchase, most of the aftermarket springs were about the same in quality. Some had more drop than others, and some had more "sag" complaints than others (usually the ones with the most drop ). The TSW's were the exception. They are linear and had less sag complaints, probably because they had less initial drop. I wanted a little more drop, so I went with the H-Sports based on advice from several autocrossers that had been using them for a while.
Shortly thereafter TSW came out with there V2 springs... with more drop . That's just the way it goes.

If this Swift spring deal goes through, I'm sure they will be the best MINI lowering springs you can get.

If you thinking about new dampers too, then the you might consider coilovers (w/Swift springs retrofited ) also.
