I have meet a lot of bikers last month in atlanta when they have the annual bikers' meet.
I was talking to a guy about their bikers groups
It inspire me about our mini owners. we are going to be one of the biggest organized auto mobile gruop in america.
not all bmw owners know each others!
Not all toyota owners know each other and have their club meet once in a while!!

Not many car club in usa has been so close and organize and well communicated!
we might becoming a group like the bikers

Eric, you are close. I have put almost 250,000 miles on bikes in the last 20 yrs and bikers are an independent , but dedicated , group. If you see another bike by the side of the road , you stop and make sure they are OK. anything you can do to help, even a nites stay if they are broke down and need help. It would be great if mini owners were that responsive to each other. Maybe you started something, tim

mini is a icon. how the icon act will base on who drive it.
I agree with Fuzzyface.
and i have seen many times of MINI onwers help each other.

I dont think BMW onwers wave to each other when passing, so the nissan onwers or benz! but MINI does!
it is a good sign!

I remember my highschool days when my mom got one of the first 3 series BMW's. When ever she would approach another on the road they would give a "hello" flash of the headlights. The 3 was about as rare as the MINI then and it was a nice feeling to aknowledge fellow enthusiasts of that ground breaking vehicle. When ever I drove her car I sure followed that rule!

In fact when I get my MCS in November you can count on me flashing hello to you!

I currently drive a Honda Accord and if I waved at every other Accord I saw, I'd just have to leave my arm hanging out the window! They are everywhere, 2-3 at every stop light, 20-30 in every parking lot, 6 on my street alone! Mine is light gold and there are dozens of them all over town!

I think that as long as MINI is a special car, owned by only a few, we will be easy to see and it will be a pleasure to wave, flash the lights and even beep the horn to say hello!

I, for one think that it is a good idea to have a loose organization. If we are to form a society or club it should be rather informal, flexible, and quasi independent. The less rules the better, but one ought to be helping those in need (and even those who are not MINI drivers when possible).

Years ago my family was driving somewhere in CA when we got a flat tire. Now my dad who is great and extremely talented in what he does is not a person who can replace a tire without getting out the manual to read a few times before the attempt. Just when my father was about to make his noble attempt two of the most hardened (Hell's Angels) bikers showed up. They asked if they could lend a hand. When they were done my father offered to pay them for their efforts but they just laughed and told him that he had a nice family and to take good care of them. Then they rode off.

This incident has stuck with me. That is the kind of people we MINI owners should be.

Just my 2 cents.

>> Then they rode off.

When they arrived back at their meth lab a few hours later, they decided to sample some of the latest batch. This inspired them to rob a convenience store in the next county and beat it's young clerk nearly to death with an aluminum baseball bat before taking $234.50 from the register. By the time they came down later that night and fell asleep in an abandoned trailer home, little remained among their damaged neurons in the way of a memory of their encounter with a stranded family ealier in the day.

This is the weirdest thread.

1. Biker rules??? What the hell are you talking about??????????

2. Fuzzyface, right on bro. I have to admit, that before I started riding if I saw someone broken down on the side of the road, car, bike whatever, I stopped. It was because I felt I wanted to be part of the solution and not the problem and since I'm a bit of a wrench-head, why not.

Once I started riding, it became, I guess like a rule. Riding is a little more out there; a little more real, unsheltered and you just don't pass a biker (even if I'm in my car) on the side of the road who might need help. Sure, I get waved off a lot because the dude/dudette is just taking a break or having a smoke, but I'd rather get waved off than not check it out.

3. jjblount - isn't that how ALL people should be, not just bikers and Mini owners? But true, THAT's the type of biker I've known for more than a decade of riding. For some years I was part of a local Abate chapter who puts on the Philly toy run to Children's Hospital each year. Ever see a huge, bearded, leather-clad, tattooed man break down and cry while carrying a toy into a hospital. I've seen it enough times not to be surprised by it. Bikers are just people (who dress kinda intimidating and like loud toys).

4. Xalfa, that was hilarious, ignorant but hilarious. Seriously dude, do you know what it is like to be pulled over by the cops and detained and searched because of the way you look? If you do, then I hope you don't believe the crap you just wrote, cause it's just more BS stereotyping. I'll admit, it was funny stereotyping and since the joke is on me, I guess I've got the right to laugh, but please, just don't believe it, OK?

AZwilliam --- same goes to you, funny, but couldn't be farther from the mark.

Ok, down off my soap box.

Back to the original thread. YES, it would be nice if there was a feeling of Mini camaraderie, sorta the Mini fraternity/sorority....

I've noticed here in NJ, as MINI's become more common, the waves, flashes, etc are dying down. Had a guy in a CR/W Cooper wave last night, EB/W MCS did not today. But I see alot around here, so they're really not that uncommon now.

I just read an article in the NY Times mag about Scion owners discussing the same type of camaraderie due to the uniqueness of their vehicles.

or MINI Angels... Don't ya think the one golden rule, do unto others as you would like done unto you.
Outlaws, bikers, MC drivers doesn't matter what kind of tattoo you wear, or the length of your facial hair, or how clean you keep your finger nails... people as a whole outside of a few monsters that run
amuck, are good natured and will help each other out in a jam.

now how about that MINI Angel jacket? The winged mini sign encircled with the MINI colors... EB, DS,CR, LY,PW,IB, CB,SG, BRG, PS, on the back. with fringe on the sleeves, and a bandana, for the bulldog.
