I've been lurking for a while but figured I should introduce myself... I've been obsessed with the MINI since I first saw it at the NAIAS way back when. I have an 03 Spec V that I purchased to tide me over until I could afford a MINI (got a killer deal on it) - but I don't think I can last much longer! And with the MINI Classic coming out up here for 04, I think everyone will get one... and of course I have to have one before then. I've got 13 model MINIs in my office at work, and more at home -- I guess you could say I have a wee addiction.

I'm thinking of getting a Cooper (maybe lease?) until I can afford my own Cooper S ordered right from the factory... thoughts or suggestions? Anyone in the Toronto area have any dealer experiences to share?

Thanks, and I love this board already!

Welcome to MCO!

Hello, my name is Markus and I'm a fellow MINIholic!
And... you have the same initials that I do: MH, how cool!

The only problem with a lease that I could see is that the MINI is sooo much fun to drive, that you will end up putting on waayyyyy more miles than the lease allows.

I bought my MINI in January, and have since logged 22k miles on it.
Fun miles, very fun miles...

Cheers,
M.

Welcome Miniholic-- Don't you feel better, now that your addiction is out in the open? The first step is to admitt... that the Mini is the coolest car going!!! You will find that MCO is cathardic (sp?). However, there is no substitute for DRIVING your new Mini. You are on the road to recovery... congrats!

Welcome! I'm in Detroit, but am in Toronto quite a bit. I've had an opportunity to visit the MINI dealership in downtown Toronto (on King St?). They seem to have a very friendly, well-informed staff. They also always have a huge lot full of MINIs so you may not have to suffer the wait that so many US addicts have to go through.
One piece of advice: don't get the high performance tires or you'll have a VERY slippery winter.

miniholic-
Welcome and aloha to MCO,
We've been waiting for you.
Leasing is OK- better than just sitting on the sidelines.
Get you enjoy driving (motorin) plus get some experience with the MC.
Usually leases are limited so you would tend to keep the car stock (few mods please due to lease terms)
and the lower miles part unless you want to go all out.
What it does help with is to allow the MINI to get better over time and mature- work the problems out even more before you official buy. This is always good and useful.
Just don't get too carried away with all of our enthusiasm. We are afterall... MINIholics!

Miniholic: Check out MINI Woodbridge. See Chris Borba. He's amazing. Tell him I said "Hi"!

And next year you'll join us at the World's Greatest MINI Event!

LOL finally people who understand my addiction!!!

I'm going to the 2 closest dealerships tomorrow - one of them has a used 02 Cooper for sale, Cosmos black w/white roof... sport package, sunroof... <stops to wipe drool off keyboard>. Depending on how much they will give me for my Spec V, I may be a MINI owner by Monday!!!

And yes, the 04 MINI Canada lineup will include the MINI Classic - one step below the Cooper. No Xenon or ASC, but the price starts at 22,700 Canadian dollars so I'm sure more people will have them.

*sigh* Wasting away again in MINICooperville....

Cheers and thanks for the replies! MCO rocks!
