Tint shop in the Bay Area, CA?

Where are you folks getting your tint installed? The one place I called, Omega Tintwerks, quoted me $350 for ceramic and $250 for metallic. Seems awful expensive me. Any suggestions?

Also, is it really worth the extra for ceramic?

Just for comparison, Rocky Mountain Windowtint in Livermore charges $369 for Pinnacle ceramic tint. I understand they do great work.

My understanding is that ceramic tint provides greater heat reduction than metalic for the same tint level. Also, the ceramic won't interfere with electronics inside the vehicle such as gps, radar, cell phone, etc.

I'm going with Omega Tintwerks. He seems to be very knowledgable about his work and there are some very positive comments in the forum about him.

How much did Vince quote you for the tint and how many windows are you doing? When are you getting it done? I’d like to check it out is possible.

Same as you, three-fiddy.

I'm having all five windows done the week after next. He's booked (must be a good sign). I'm probably going with 50% all around. I might go darker, but I don't want to appear too ghetto.

California Tint in Campbell

I don't have a Mini yet, But I had my Mercedes done at California Tint in Campbell several years ago. Excellent work. Good quality. Still looks great.
5 windows were $475.

Vincent at Omega Tintwerks did my clear bra a few weeks ago. Looks great. He did a fantastic job. He dropped me off and picked me up from the BART station, too.

It was $550 for partial hood, front bumper & mirror caps. Just a regular MC, so no hood scoop, but the bra goes up to about where the scoop would be.

I am thinking of getting the clear bra (after several chips).
curious,
-do you wax the bra?
-does the bra help prevent sun damage like wax would?
-does the bra leave any kind of discoleration?
-does the bra come off easily if I want to take it off years down the road?

thanks, i am thinking i am going to get a clear bra for my mini.

i only have 1200 miles, yet already have several chips that have taken the paint off. Can't imagine how bad it will look at 10,000 miles?!

Speaking of, I love my Mini, yet to be honest the paint doesn't seem as durable as on other cars I've had and have. My Porsche for example has the finest and strongest paint I've ever had on any car. The paint seems to be thicker and much much stronger. The Mini's paint in comparrison seems thinner and more brittle. Even my wife's camry's paint seems a bit stronger than my Mini's? anyway, I think the bra should do the trick.

i definitely recommend the clear bra.

i paid $515 for mine which included the partial hood that goes about 8" past the scoop, the scoop itself, headlights, bumper, fog lights and mirror.its the best deal around and the guys at transparentbra goes to your place to do the install. they did my murano so i know their work and went back to them for the Mini. i had it put on the 3rd day i had the car with about 20 miles on it so the paint was still as good as can be.

i know the newer BMWs are waterbase type paints, better for the environment.
