I just got a call from New Country Mini in Hartford to let me know my JCW install is complete and ready for pick-up. He also told me they detected another coolent leak (I had one fixed about 6 months ago under warranty), so they put in a new resevoir and included a thermostat too, no charge, nice service.
I asked him if anyone test drove the car and could assure me there was no 'stumble'. He than asked me if I had been reading any information on 'those internet chat rooms' and I laughed and said of course I have! He assured me the car was test driven and there was no stumble. I will pick the car up tomorrow morning and try not to get a speeding ticket on the drive home!

Mgear,
Please do post if you detect the stumble and I hope your kit rocks.
We would be pleased to add you to the list of satisfied JCW kit owners on MCO.
Now you have to try that new break in method where you warm up the car in the first 20 miles and you give it super high revs to seat the rings/pistons or something or other. Oh yeah you gotta drain out all the oil first and change it to regular oil for it to work then switch back to synthetic later.
Yeah-I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Oh well.
Enjoy your new car!

Sounds exciting-- I'm sure you'll let us know how it feels to drive with the JWC kit!

I think we’re all excited for you Hank. Motor on, but try to keep it under light speed.

Sounds awesome...can't wait to hear a report! But then, of course, we'll be reading it on one of 'those internet chat rooms.'

Hank:

Welcome to the club (JCW). I'm certain you will enjoy the MINI (name as BMW intended it )as it should have been conceived originally. However, I must warn you, it just like getting a new computer - it seems very fast for the first week and then life returns to the mundane (that's Cooper level mundane - not couch potatoe) and you be looking at lighter wheels, throttle bodies, intakes, and headers. For now I have able to stave off those cravings and enjoy the JCW, but for how long?

Regards,

Joe
