R56 Clearbra and hot hood temps?
Clearbra and hot hood temps?
I'd like to get just my hood covered with Clearbra (or equivalent product), but wow does it get hot just behind the hood scoop after shutting down. Hot enough that I'm wondering if there would be a problem with the Clearbra or the adhesives down the road? I'm likely going to have the entire hood covered if the local shops have the material to do so.
Thanks,
Paul

I don't have one but I can say that all of my rock dings are below the line that goes across the hood between the upper edge of the headlights, if that's of any use to you. There are none above the hood scoop.
Not a problem I've ever heard of with conventional bra installs and were it to be, the warranty should cover it completely.
Most bra kits I've ever seen for the MINI are only designed to cover the nose of the hood so covering the entire bonnet might make an installer inclined to cover his own "bonnet" with a caveat in the case of your installation.
Hi Paul -- I have the Invisishield product and I live in HOT sunny southern California -- although I've only had Cricket since February 22, she has been in a lot of hot temperatures and she hasn't had any issues with her bra -- not to worry if it's installed properly
covering yr entire bonnet is **** overkill. all U need to cover is the nose, but do the lower clip too because that takes a lot of damage, and consider doing the fogs because ive read about a lot of damage to the fragile lenses from road crap. and maybe the dealer is pricey, but remember there's a full NQA replacement warranty for 4-5 years in case of yellowing, lifting, etc.
I have the clearbra on my chili red MCSa for several months now and it still offers a firm 18 hours of support and looks great not a problem from the hood heat.

then call me **** overkill

need is different for different people. i personally am very glad I got the whole hood covered. I can see "wounds" that were left well up the hood from the scoop and I was very happy that it did not damage the paint at all.
so far I have no impacts on the fog light but 2 on the headlight. money well spent imo.

Iwork with a guy who does installs and training for 3M clear. In order to do the front correctly it must be computer cut for many reasons. The rear he did for 100 bucks. the front is gonna be around 400 for computer cut so that u get maximum protection in the curvy areas. It does not go any higher than the hood scoop.
it covered the whole hood, the front bumper with no seams except the hood scoop and a few small places near the edge of the hood. also did the head lights, fog lights and the side view mirrors.
on the fog and side view mirrors it doesn't cover the whole thing. it's a strip that cover the center portion about 2inches wide.
cost was $900 total.
wow 10months and only 5800 miles! I'm going on 2.5months and 5500miles with the clear bra. same here no issues so far.
