Me'lo gets a nose job... clear bra install>>>
Made to appointment and went in today for clear bra install... entire front nose and about 40% up hood and outside mirrors... VentureShield is the product of choice. Comes with lifetime warranty against cracking, bubbling or yellowing... key to clear bra is the installer and the company I went to (Northern Virginia) does...well lets say Me'lo was in good company>>

ProShield just moved into new quarters...they do the installs for the Lambo and Ferrari/Maserati dealerships along with MINI & BMW. They know their stuff
Anyway here is Me'lo after nose job>>

And some close ups which really are uneventful pictures...which is the point... yes if you look closely you can find a seam around inserts etc but otherwise just not there>>>

If you look VERY closely about half way between top of scoop and washer nozzles you can faintly see the clear bra line...

Anyway, that takes a bit of relief now... rock chips go away
Fun pic in closing... MINI in stark industrial environ>>

How much did they charge you for it. My dealer charged $495 for mirror, Bumper, and Half hood. I was mad when I saw you can add it on the mini site for like $250 bumper and hood, not sure if that is done at the port or the dealer.
assuming you went here:
http://proshieldinc.com/contactus.html
guy quoted me $795 for half hood, mirrors, and whole front bumper.

I should have put a 'caveat' statement in my post…I do not look for the best low price for work, but rather best work at a price. So YES you can get dealers/kits etc etc to install clear bra systems at lower prices. I prefer to know who I am dealing with and feel comfortable that what they provide is quality and back up their service. Yes…I tend to pay more up front, but do not walk away feeling I got average or so-so quality. So to the question of price… over $700 but watched the entire install process; had final review of install; commitment that if ANY thing about the install I did not like after couple days bring back and they would correct immediately. Even though I own much more expensive drives than the MINI I treat it equal in anything I have done to it…ergo Me’lo was in good company with the Lambo and Ferrari
PS: Yes it is ProShield in Sterling Va that did the install

Looks great.
The VentureShield system is a computer generated pattern that is cut via plotter cutter...very slick. Point being if you want different coverage than what the computer has then goes to custom cutting etc. Thus on Me'lo the film goes to the edge of rings and grill. One option is to have entire hood covered then you could do the wrap around the ring openings and grille area. ProShield did a "full wrap" (yep meaning entire car
) on a Maserati and a Denali (extended version etc)... took them two days to do that one

Thanks Jim... I learned my lesson when I owned a very red highly modded Audi TT... did not do the clear bra from the get go and ended up with about a dozen+ stone chips in one trip to an Audi TT east coast meet...never again

Hello all,
I'm strongly considering getting the clear bra-ing done on my incoming 09 MCS... especially after my beloved 900SE ended up with all those chips in her hood...
Quick question, someone above said they "waited too long" to get the bra done. How soon should you have it done after you purchase the car? How long is too long to wait? Should you wash it before you take it in? Does the bra installer take care of all that?
Is there a clear bra FAQ somewhere here that I'm missing? I bet it's on a website somewhere, but I think you guys might offer some consumer-side advice that would be really helpful.
Thanks!

Good questions... the 'waited too long' has nothing to do with paint newness or being dirty (eg that can be washed off), but rather getting stone chips prior to having the film installed. Basically, it is a law of probability...longer you wait the greater the chance of getting a stone chip...a clear bra can not hide (in fact I think amplifies) a rock chip so best is to get clear bra installed as soon as you get the MINI...I waited a week+ and was driving like I was in a egg
avoiding anything that was a truck etc. Fortunately, I did not get one hit..
Concerning FAQ... try this link for starters>>
http://proshieldinc.com/faq.html
Although specific to VenterShield does answers most questions
Surface prep... just have the car clean (washed) but do not wax/seal/detail etc the front nose, hood and outside mirrors. The installer will clean all areas for film install with a diluted solution of isopropyl alcohol which strips off any oils, sealants etc and does NOT hurt clear coat.
