Well it finally happened...

I just got the call from my Dealer today. The 2008 are officially done. All orders are for 2009 cars. So, if you have the sport package ordered it is no more. I had to piece everything back together. Of couse, the car is $850.00 bucks more, go figure.

Why are they doing away with the Sport Package? Is it automatically included with all Cooper S's now?

It's inflation and the rising cost of resources. They can't raise the price by infintesimal amounts to compensate after each customer buys a car, so they wait untill the model year change to raise it all at once.

The sport package will not be available till 12/08. I know the price goes up at each model year. I just though I got in under the wire. The delivery time is still the same -- begining October.

Still makes me mad you have to wait to dec to get the sports pack. It will cost more to piece it together.

I think the wait would be worth it for the sport package. It comes with the traction control (which is what they are waiting for I would guess) and the ability to completly turn the DSC and traction control off. It also includes an electronic differential lock (I don't really know what this does but I'm assuming its like the LSD) white turn signals, and xenons. I would also bet that the price of the Sport package will go up a bit.

Going through the new configurator, I would have saved $250 if I would have bought an 09.
