I picked up my Clubman S yesterday from the dealer and went to a birthday party for a friend near DC.

On the way to the party, I was driving down New Hampshire Ave in Silver Spring, MD and was bouncing around to a song on the iPod. I look over and two girls in a Honda are looking at me and laughing. I yelled that I had just picked the car up and they yelled back, Congratulations! Considering I am 51, I guess they got a kick out of some old guy in a MINI bopping to the music!

Once at the party, the Clubman was very popular. For most of the night, people were dragging me out to see the car up close. Everyone was shocked about how much room there was inside for such a small car.

Today, I had to drive into Annapolis on an errand. The car got a lot of attention. One particular incident: I was crawling along the harbor in traffic. There was a family walking on the side walk. Mom, Dad, with 2 little girls just behind them. I looked over and saw one of the little girls staring at the MINI. Then she looked at me, smiled real wide and waved! She was so cute!

A similar thing happened on the way home. Another little girl in the back seat of a car next to me waived at me while we were at a light. I guess they can relate to the size of the car! Can't wait for day three!

I am also convinced that this car is going to destroy my good driving record. It is just too fast! I jump on the highway, look down at the speedometer and I'm doing 75 or 80 without a thought. I think I'm in big trouble!

 

I've said many times, "It's hard to keep an S under 70!"

 

It's funny how the mini puts a smile on peoples faces. Every day I drive it it's like I bring a little fun and happiness to people.

 

Amen, it does bring out the best in many - drivers and onlookers, alike.

Just finished a road trip to Rocky Gap, the car handled great...only Mini there!
I am thinking of doing the Sunday, event with the local club, we need to represent the "Club"man!

 

Actually I live down near Annapolis. Was in SS for the birthday of a friend. I intend to show up for the local event when they do the dealer in Annapolis next time. (the one they are planning now is at the dealer in Sterling, right?)

 

I will be driving (cruising) downtown Annapolis today at around noon...hope to see you down around there.
