The silver lidded insert that fits into the cupholder has broken and needs to be replaced. Any of you fine folks know if MINI or some other company makes replacements??
Any suggestions are appreciated...

You can buy a new one at your parts counter? Should be covered under warranty though.

I saw a chrome one on the site of the German Company that sponsers this board. I removed mine as it was always in the way - but I do not smoke, and found it did not make a good change tray. No I am not selling it. (My 12 year old will likely take the car when she is old enough so I am saving all the stock bits I take off.) You may look on e-bay or (shudddder) go to a junk yard to get the part. I'm sure the dealerships have them as well. In the event that you are to far from a dealership several of them have e-mail address listed here and on MINIUSA. Send a e-mail to several as the price may very from place to place for parts.
Good huntng to ya,
John

Unfortunately, the dealer's too far a haul for such a small item. Does anyone know the "official" name of this item? I'd hate to refer to it as "that gray cup thingy" when I call my dealer.

I'm thinking if you say "ashtray" they will know what you're looking for...

Thanks for the help. I'll try to track one of these strange "ashtreigh" thingies down.
