Carbon Fiber Hood Specs?
My GP just got hit on the front side by a driver on a cell phone, it damaged the front fender which is really the bonnet. I want to replace the bonnet for a VIS/Siebon type carbon fiber bonnet. But is it really real CF? How much do they weigh? What does stock bonnet weigh? Anybody done these comparos yet?
One vender quoted me 21lbs for VIS CF bonnet, but need to make sure.

It's fiberglass matt with a top layer of CF cloth. Weighs a good amount less then steel hood, but a steel hood can get stripped down to the same or close to the same weight. The VIS hood does not fit perfect as far as I know.
I'd consider getting a new steel hood and gut it out as much as possible myself.

+1 on the VIS. I have a cheap CF hood and after seeing the VIS at MOTD it's by far the better if not the best of the CF hoods. However none of them fit like OEM steel so if OEM fit and finish are part of your goal get the OEM steel.

Hmmm, I stripped off the heat shielding, plastic clips, and few foam bits already. And I have the non xenon lights. I guess I'll do the same again.
Any other diet tips especially for front end.
