JCW R105 worth it?

Is it worth it getting the JCW R105s?? I've read through the forums that they are heavier then crap. Plus, I was told by my dealer that they run about $3,500 for a set. Anyone have a better alternative??

Team Dynamics have some that look very similar and I believe the run around $199 each. Most OEM wheels are usually quite expensive.

I looked into the R105s and decided against them after I ordered my R56. Too much dough for wheels that require runflat tires.

Last time I checked the Team Dynamics wheels didn't support the TPMS valve stems installed on Sept 2007+ R56s (metal valve stems). This means the TPMS light will always be illuminated since the car will think that the TPMS system is not functioning correctly.

I opted for the 17" OZ with non-runflat tires complete with R56 TPMS valve stems from TireRack. A complete bolt-on package that functions fine with the R56.

i run them and what you've read is probably all correct. i'm an OEM kind of guy. the most annoying thing? the wheel gap it creates. i have the hyper sport suspension and body kit that doesn't lower the car at all. w/ the performance run flats that they put on, the wheel gap is exaggerated over the 16" all seasons i have for winter. if you are strictly OEM, the JCW suspension lowers the car a bit and i'm sure you'll get a better look. but those wheels and tires combined w/ the JCW suspension probably equal a pretty crappy ride (if that kind of thing matters to you).

Well....I have just the sports suspenison with the JCW kit. I was going to lower it with the H&R springs. I have a couple of buddies who did this and 18s with 205/40s will work fine. But then again...I don't want to spend 3500 bucks on 18s that I can probably find somewhere else with the an equal layout and better made. Plus light weight!!

Who told you $3,500? I got my black R105 rims only from Morristown Mini for $1,200 delivered. Then bought Yokohamas S-lites in 205/40/18-$550 so installed I paid $1850 for the set. I'll never buy these $300/ea. horrible heavy run-flats. All you have to do is to get the Mini Mobility kit so you can use it when you have a flat. Stay away from these dealers-sure they'll tell it'll cost you $3,5K...
And they're not heavier than any of the OEM 17" rims. Sure people will try to find any excuse not to get these great wheels especially when they're told that they cost so much.

I have heard as much as $3500 installed with turn limiters, wheels, tires.

I went with Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2. They look close to the JCW wheels and are lighter. JCW = ~21lb TD=17.3lb I stuck with the stock 17x7 size. I didn't want to use turn limiters and wanted to use up the rest of my good run flats.

I didn't even install the steering stops with R105s and have no rubbing issues. I am not sure why they're recommended. Morristown Mini told me that I won't have any rubbing and they were right. Your wheels look very nice BTW...

One thing I forgot to say.... I love the JCW wheels... I just went for a cheaper solution.

Get a quote from Morristown MINI, they will order tires from tirerack and have them mounted before shipping out to you, their prices are really good for new stuff too.

I have these rims and have no problem with rubbing or anything, however, finding a cheap tire to fit them is impossible. Oh, anyone know what these rims are made of? someone please tell me aluminum.
