I tend to fill up at around half a tank and have never had the tank that low. I routinely get around 33 or 34 mpg calculated with about 70-80% stop and go & city driving. I guess you could figure it out from there.

real world is 28.95 mpg over the last 5 months of my ownership. Hand calculated from evey fill up. Almost the same gas station evey time.

i have a running google document for it. will post after one year of listing.

I shift from 3 to 4 k. do 75mph to work for 20 mins no traffic. I live in the city.

best i have seen is 34mpg when i drove it at night in the rain at 60mph for about 400 miles.

I'm right there with Kirkland. 29.5 MPG avg. It was actually around 31 MPG for a while, but for whatever reason it dropped recently

I'm getting 34.0MPG per the OBC. Filling up when the gas idiot light lights up or just after and I'm averaging about 450 miles per tank over the last few weeks.

EDIT: Average speed is 37.4 MPH, most of my milage is highway miles at or near the 60MPH speed limit.

I'm interested in this too. Does anyone have any mileage stats driving mostly in San Francisco? I imagine the hills, stopsigns, traffic to have some effect, but how much!?

I'm right around 33-34mpg usually with mostly rural, mountain roads. I just did 250 miles, mostly on the interstate, and get 37.34. All of this is hand calculated. The OBC tends to be about 1 mpg higher than actual. I don't trust the OBC very much because it always says I can go much further until empty than I can and the gas gauge takes so long to start going down. I can drive almost 200 miles before the 2nd light goes out.

I'm commuting into Seattle each day- there's been some improvements by construction recently, but before then I'd say we had about an hour and a half to two hours worth of stop and go traffic and in-town driving each day.

The worst tank I've seen was 29MPG (again, per the OBC).

I usually fill up at around 400 miles per tank. I think it works out to around 32 mpg, mostly stop and go in Dallas metroplex

I get about 28 city/34 highway. Best highway tank was 425 miles and still had 50 to go on the OBC and the 2 red candycorns lit.

28 hand calculated. 95% commuting--stop and go on the streets, half stop and go on the freeway. avg speed 24.3 per the OBC.

I was traveling yesterday and I ended up stuck behind some slow moving trucks so I decided to do some experimentation.

Just so you know, manual MCS, shifting done between 2100 and 2300 rpm. holding speed up hills; gradual acceleration downhill; all windows and sunroof closed; listening to "The Slip" by NIN. ;-)

The experiment was conducted between McKenzie, TN, elevation 495 ft and Lexington, KY, elevation 1000 ft.

Leg 1. (mixed slow speed) (From McKeznie)
Auto AC on 70 f
Outside Temp~ 77 F
Avg moving speed 54.7 mph (Garmin GPS)
Max Speed 69.1 mph (Garmin GPS)
Stopped Time 1:57 (Garmin GPS)
Distance Traveled 104 miles (OBC)
Avg mileage 40.5 mpg (OBC)

Leg 2. (changed to 75 mph (Garmin GPS) constant speed (cruise)
Auto AC on 70F
Outside Temp~ 77 F
Avg moving speed 75 mph (Forgot to reset Garmin!)
Max Speed 76 mph (Garmin GPS)
Stopped Time 34 seconds (Garmin GPS)
Distance Traveled 31.8 miles (OBC)
Avg Mileage 32.8 mpg (OBC)

Leg 3. (changed from 75 mph to 73 mph (Garmin GPS) constant speed)
Auto AC on 70 F
Outside Temp ~ 76 F
Avg Moving Speed 73 mph (Garmin GPS)
Max Speed 73 mph (Garmin GPS)
Stopped time 0 seconds (Garmin GPS)
Distance Traveled 65.6 miles (OBC)
Avg Mileage 35.6 (OBC)

I'll hand calculate the whole average MPG when I have a little more time.

Re: KTrout's itinerary - -

Hailing originally from West Kentucky, I believe I can say this with some
authority: if you live in or around McKenzie, you (i.e., your Mini) must
stand out like a sore thumb! Unless, of course, the populations of
Nashville and Memphis have spread out a lot more than I realize. If
you do live in the McKenzie area, keep up the good work!

I have the JCW stage 1, and my hand calculated best mileage was 35.5 mpg, all highway and driving 75-85, and worse mileage was total city driving at 26 mpg (with very frequent stops every mile or so). I, too, usually fill up around 1/2 so couldn't tell you how many miles on a tank.
