I have an '07 MCS. I do mostly highway driving. The last tank I went 460 miles on 13 gallons of gas. I still had one bar left. That's roughly 35.4 MPG.

I've been getting a steady 36 mpg in my S with the a/c on. Thats city and highway average. I got 40.1 on a trip to Daytona from Miami with the a/c on. Not too shabby.

hey guys... please post the avg mph too if you can... that will let the rest of us know how "fast" we drove and why we didnt get the awesome mpg like you guys

my car is still on the first tank... so I dont have my data yet

PS: anyone used a thinner old in their car? I am wondering how much more mpg can you get from it (lets say 5W-20)

No info on average speed, but I bet my grandma is driving faster. I'm basically experimenting on how efficient I can get it. This last tankful I haven't revved above 2K, coasting to a stop all speeds at or below 55mph, mostly city driving at 30-40. I'm presently getting a steady 38 to 37.9 mpg. Once the tank is done I'll confirm the milage but its usually pretty close give or take 1 mpg.

Like the Golden Arches commercial says, I'm lovin' it.

Don't worry, you are not alone. I am getting 26.3 (OBC) reading. I just can't drive below 75 mph on freeways and always stay in Sport Mode, so shifting is in between 4-5 rpm. Last time when filled up I saw estimated mileage of 392 miles for full tank. I am in L.A. and in stop and go traffic every day.

I get about 450M a tank at about 32 miles to the gallon mixed driving. I get 30mpg when I flog on it for a whole tank of gas! I don't think I could get less miles per gallon if I tried.

Wow I am hoping I get better gas mileage on my '08 MCSa soon because it is low compared to what everyone else has posted!!

So far with just 2 fill ups my first tank was calculated at 20.7 mpg with the OBC avg. mpg 25.4 with 263 total miles. Now my second fill up was today and it was calculated at 17.9 mpg with the OBC 22.8 avg. mpg with 549 on the odometer.Avg speed was like 20.9 mph on the OBC.I do 99% city driving with a lot of stop and go with the a/c on all of the time though. But as you can see my mpg is actually dropping and not going up for some reason.Maybe after the initial 1200 mile break-in period it will improve some.

I am at 1664 total miles and I am averaging 30.15 using this web site - http://www.trackyourgasmileage.com. The OBC says I am averaging 32.5.

I have a hard time not shifting between 3-4ish - too much fun. The sport button is very tempting too...

40mpg from a full tank to empty...And it was really HARD to do! The week before, I drove it like I wanted to and got 33mpg. I commute about 150 miles a day and kept him at an average of 69mph on the freeways and about 40 on the highways. I don't think I can do that again (well, I CAN, but I won't).

honestly, it looks like we can kill this thread.

70-80 mph = 33-34mpg
80-90 = 30 - 32mpg
avg 30-40mph all around driving = 26-30mpg depending on your right foot.

Well up until about a month ago I was getting a mere 23-25 mpg on my MCSa with about 70% city driving (about 15-25% spirited driving). This is with letting the tank get to near empty every time since I purchased new 10 months ago (avg getting down to about 10-20 miles left in tank) mainly because I want to see each time how much mileage I actually get. However, ....now I have been getting better mileage....with each tank I have gotten an increase of about 20, 30, 40 more miles overall. So now, instead only getting about 325 miles per tank I am up to 420 miles per tank. So like a 100 mile increase in roughly one month! I was told that it's 1) b/c its getting warmer outside, and 2) it's still not broken in (service guy told me this one which I don't understand, being my car has 13.5k on it). Regardless, I am EXTREMELY happy about my recent increases. I'm trying to see now if my baby will reach 500 miles by the end of June

With 3500 miles on my stage 1 '08 JCW I've been averaging 33mpg by hand OBC over 34, with speed near 48 on OBC. This is driving Interstate 66 everyday 100 miles round trip. Better than the 28 I was getting in my '03 MCS.

I have an '06, so yours will do better, but when I drive exclusively in the city (many hills and stopsigns) I get aroung 17mpg.

UPDATE
Well after taking a very long driving trip from Florida to Minnesota I noticed a huge improvement in my MPG.I went from a lowly 17.9 MPG with 549 on the odometer to 38.4 MPG with 4133 miles on the odometer.

Picture was taken with my cell phone so kinda fuzzy.

2011 Mini Cooper S

I would like revive this thread. There have not been any real world MPG posts in quite some time. Mini made improvements to the 2011 S - Turbo engine, so what kind of real world MPG have you 2011 drivers been getting.

I have a 2011 Clubman S automatic. So far I have about 400 miles on the odometer. I am getting awful mileage of 21.6(car computer), 20(hand calculated.) I drive mainly in the city with no traffic jams but with many stoplights. I baby the car with no hard acceleration or driving the car over the posted speed limit. I don't use the Sport button or do any manual shifting. I thought I was supposed to get 27 mpg city, but I am no where close to that.

We just got back from our winter in Florida. My wife drove the car to and from Ft Myers, 870 miles each way. I drove our Motorcoach which tows a Honda Pilot. My wife drove with me, sometimes behind me, sometimes ahead. We driove at 65-70 mph. On both legs, to and from Ft Myers from North Carolina we averaged 40 MPG with the air on. This was measured the old fashion way; miles driven divided by gallons put in. She was, contrary to what some might suggest, at no time drafting the motorhome, just within CB Radio range. Our 2011 MCS now has 5k miles on it. Admittedly this is quite conservative driving on mostly Interstates, with no stop and go traffic and no hard accelerating (our puppy was riding shotgun in the Mini). The point is, driven conservatively at a steady speed of 65-70, the car is capable of 40 MPG. I personally don't drive it this way on a day to day basis, and don't really care what the MPG is, but it can be done.
