Heck even the new audi r8 has one.
what do you guys think of adding one to a mini do you think it can be done.
and if so would you want one.
My close friend is a machinist and between the two of us we could work it out..
So how do you think it would look. / work would you want one

Thoughts please

Shouldn't be hard to do. The shifter already has "Gates" you just have to fabricate that SS piece to show them off.

I actually don't mind my leather boot, the concept is interesting. I wonder what if any modification would have to be made to the plastic piece the shifter is hooked up to. There's not a lot of room there.

The **** just pulls off (You'll probably have to pull REALLY hard, so brace yourself against something). The trim around the boot just pulls off. Just jiggle it around and yank it up. The shift linkages are below, there's not much to see, lol.

I have owned countless cars with manual transmissions. M22 , Borg warner, BMW, Corvettes, Healeys, MGs, Mustangs etc. The MINI has one of the nicest shifting transmissions that I've ever driven. Unless the shiftgate was perfectly matched to the Getrag pattern it would present clearance problems. My solution to this and I think a very good one is the Craven Speed Shift well cover. Classy, Clean and Racy.

If you can do it and make work properly and look good, put me in for one. I always had this idea in the back of my head but never persued it on here. All I ask is that it's compatible with a short throw kit and my Whalen ****.

Im pretty sure after taking mesurements today that it cannot be done.
the shift gates on my 06 are too narrow.
the shifter stock is 1/2 inch and the movement from reverse to first is only 1/4
so it wouldent happen.
unless anyones got any ideas i cant figure out a way to do it.
sorry

Raise the gate with a spacer. The shift shaft will have more movement between gears there. How high the gate ends up will, of course, change the aesthetics of the original idea.
