JCW R105 Look-a-like
I've been tossing around about buying a set of R105 wheels, but upon reading how heavy they are, I kind of lost interest. They look darn good, but I just don't have the money to burn on 'em. So, I've been searching for alternatives and here are a couple I've come across:

These are pretty slick! I definitely agree that these are the closest I've seen to the JCW thus far. I'm still hopefull that someone will make an identical version to the JCW's with all the excess fat trimmed off.
I keep hearing that the R105's are heavy... anyone know what the actual weight of the R105 is? -I've been searching all over this site and the web... can't find anything on the actual weight (just that they are heavy).
thanks
thanks

23.3lbs
thanks, ...yeah that is on the heavy side. That's 100lbs (almost) for all four, whereas one could easily get 13-15lb tires ...a savings of 40-50 lbs all the way around.
For the JCW name and price, I am surprised they are so heavy and not a more competitive wheel??? ...does wheel weight help at all? Or is it better (as I think) to have lighter wheels for all around gas savings and performance?

IMO it's a bit if a trade off light wheels are nice, but the trade off is they tend to more prone to bending with potholes etc, I found this out the hard way with a helluva exspenive set of 19" Volk GTC's on another car. Especially in the case of 18" on the mini's as most go with a 35mm profile tire, I opted to go with 215/40/18 just to gain a little more sidewall protection.
They're not that heavy. My R104 Crown Spokes were 22.7 lbs/ea., than you will need to factor in these Dunlop heavy run flats. The JCW R105s are only 0.6 lbs heavier than the R104s. I got mine from Morristown Mini for $275/ea, combined them with Yokohamas S-Drives (2lbs/wheel lighter than these horrible run-flats) and the ride is so much better, better cornering, less bumpy. So my tire & wheel package is actually lighter. I am happy with the result

but it's 5-lug and a set probably cost as much as a mini. the green color rs logo in the middle probably cost an extra $1000
